Business Development Director - Transportation Infrastructure

Territory: West/Central

Role Summary

We are looking for a recognized Leader to lead our Mobility Solutions market growth strategy and sales for the West/Central Region. Our Mobility Solutions group includes planning, program and construction management and design, for Transportation and Water/Wastewater clients. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing external customer focused strategies to increase our business line market share and build our brand within this important geographic area. As a key member of the business development management team, you will provide overall leadership to achieve sustainable and profitable growth within the area. Through leadership and collaboration with local market line managers, this Director level position is responsible for maintaining and growing Parsons reputation as the leader in the infrastructure industry, including developing and growing the geographic market by effectively partnering with top customer/agency leaders and forming strategic industry alliances.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes and maintains client contacts and develops sales strategy.
  • Strengthens current business ties; coordinates meetings between clients/potential clients and technical or other key individuals.
  • Keeps abreast of overall business trends, particularly the current business climate. Conducts surveys to determine promising areas of development.
  • Establishes and maintains numerous contacts within and outside the industry. Follows up in a timely manner on all possible leads.
  • Develops proposals for services in response to invitations to bid, and provides guidance to proposal team from inception to completion.
  • Develops the pricing structure, as well as other contract terms and conditions.
  • Negotiates contracts, including secrecy agreements and joint venture agreements.
  • Acts as sponsor during project execution.


SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Requires a working knowledge of infrastructure industry business practices and the negotiation of contracts. Incumbent must also possess strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a working knowledge of PC software packages typically associated with business development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Planning, Architecture or Business from an accredited institution.
  • 20+ years of broad and diversified experience within the Transportation and Water and Wastewater industries for traditional and alternative delivery procurement methods.
  • Licensed professional engineer is preferred but not required.
  • Successful track record of developing new and ongoing relationships with key infrastructure (bridge, highway, rail, aviation, and tunnel) clients in the Mountain/Desert market that has resulted in key awards.
  • Experience in leading strategic planning, strategic teaming, win strategies, and proposal/presentation development.
  • Thorough understanding of pricing and contract terms, as well as negotiation experience with potential transportation clients and partners.
  • Proven leader in client relationship management, strategic planning, strategic teaming and proposal strategy and negotiation.
  • Ability to leverage your key contacts with private organizations and state and municipal agencies within the region and build a robust sales pipeline for Parsons.

The anticipated annualized full time target compensation (median) for this position is: $180,000.00.
