Job description

DescriptionThe Manager of Accounting is responsible understanding and applying the Company's accounting practices/ policies, and leading a team within the centralized Accounting function. The role requires significant collaboration with cross-functional business partners and the Finance management team, to ensure accurate financial reporting, and consistency between budgeting, forecasting and accounting close activities. Financial Close and Reporting: Drive the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate communication of the Company's financial results to the Leadership team Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and Company policy Review balance sheet reconciliations and variances to forecast, and initiate corrective action where necessary Support the preparation of SEC filings and disclosures, and assist with the year-end external audit process (including SOX testing, audit inquiries and issue resolution). Additionally, support preparation for the Company's quarterly earnings release Forecasting, Budgeting and Analysis: Leverage analytics to explain variances to budget and prior periods. Identify trends or anomalies that warrant further review, and communicate financial risks or opportunities Assist with preparation and execution of semi-monthly financial forecast, and partner with key business leaders to understand and forecast variance drivers to budget Assist with preparation and execution of annual budgets (P&L and Balance Sheet) Coaching and Development: Lead a team of Accounting associates (including Sr. Accountants, Accountants, Finance Trainees and Interns). Provide guidance and strategically delegate work assignments based upon capacity & nature of work Launch new ideas and innovate with confidence Foster an environment of strong collaboration, both within Finance and across the organization. Understand needs of business partners, and implement solutions Develop critical skillsets across the team; provide developmental feedback and opportunities for growth Change Management and Risk Assessment: Collaborate with management to assess business needs Develop reporting and procedures to support operational and functional business activities Identify accounting risk that may arise with changes, and develop/implement controls to mitigate those risks Apply knowledge to develop or re-engineer systems and business processes to increase efficiency, or support emerging business initiatives/ transactions. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field 7 - 10 years of experience - PeopleSoft Financials and Hyperion a plus CPA preferred Strong cross-functional communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multi-task with strict attention to detail Self-motivated with a drive to improve efficiencies Ability to analyze and validate results; taking further action where necessary
