Description:

This is a full-time position for Mercy Fitzgerald Campus.

Duties include proficient technique in processing, embedding, cutting and staining of routine and frozen human tissue; manual and/or automated immunohistochemical staining; filing of paraffin blocks and slides; the proper care, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment; and appropriate chemical handling. The accurate identification, labeling, matching and sorting of blocks and slides is required. The histotechnologist shall perform the above duties to produce slides of acceptable quality for pathological diagnosis. Additional required skills include computerized specimen accessioning, tissue disposal, postmortem assistance, compilation of laboratory quality control and maintenance records, and other duties as assigned by the technical supervisor.

* HT (ASCP) certification required and three (3) year's experience preferred.
