Associate Scientist _ Gibsonia, PA

Kelly Services is currently seeking Associate Scientist for one of our top clients in Gibsonia, PA.

Pay: $15/hr - $24/hr depending on experience

Duration: 6 months

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday / 8:00am to 5:00pm

As a QA Associate Scientist placed with Kelly Services you will be responsible providing sample preparation and analysis support of forensic, materials and pharmaceutical related samples.

Significant Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Conducts routine laboratory on selected research and development projects
  • Conducts sample preparation of materials for laboratory analysis
  • Aligns, calibrates, tests and maintains equipment
  • Conducts experiments, evaluates/interprets data (including statistical analyses), records/verifies/replicates results and report's findings
  • Assists with technical writing tasks (i.e., reports) and preparation of presentation materials
  • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications
  • Compiles and interprets results of tests and analyses
  • Sets up and conducts chemical experiments, tests, and analyses, using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, physical or chemical separation techniques, or microscopy
  • Conducts chemical or physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative or quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, or gaseous materials
  • Provides and maintains a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory or plant safety audits
  • Prepares chemical solutions for products or processes, following standardized formulas, or create experimental formulas
  • Maintains, cleans, or sterilizes laboratory instruments or equipment
  • Assists in the writing of technical reports or prepare graphs or charts to document experimental results
  • Provides technical support or assistance to scientists, QC and laboratory management
  • Orders and inventories materials to maintain supplies.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Natural Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience: Relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: A keen interest in a fast-paced scientific learning environment with an emphasis on applying new skills, good written and oral communication skills, vast laboratory equipment knowledge, basic word processing skills, team oriented work ethic, and procedural skills for the use of various laboratory instrumentation. Data collection, reporting, research, and technical analysis skills necessary. Critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Typical Physical Demands: (reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions)

  • Work Location: Indoors, heated/air conditioned office/lab.
  • Work Postures: Position is essentially sedentary; incumbent spends occasional time walking and standing.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Occasional lifting/carrying of boxes and supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Equipment: Often uses personal computer, lab equipment, copy machine, and fax machine.
  • Visual Activity: Ability to view computer screens, reading scripts and reports, observing experiments (color recognition, depth perception, close-up reading)
  • Hearing: Position entails moderate amount of phone contact, incoming and outgoing.
