JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State Hazleton Athletics and Recreation Department is currently seeking part-time lifeguards. Successful applicants will be responsible for the safety and education of patrons in and around the swimming pool area.

Lifeguards will:

enforce all rules, regulations, policies and procedures; perform water rescues and administer First-Aid, CPR/AED.

maintain recreational grounds and equipment,

resolve complaints,

provide customer service, and

perform related work as required.

The position will require evening hours with the possibility of weekends and special events.

Knowledge of water safety practices and procedures is required. Applicants must have current Certification in lifeguard training, First Aid and CPR/AED for professional rescuer.

This job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:

• PA State Police Criminal Background Check

• PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form

• FBI Criminal Background Check.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
