This BSA sits on the EIM - Data Warehousing team. Requires experience creating Business Requirement Documents and Mapping documents for the development of ETL applications. This role requires extensive SQL experience in writing complex queries across multiple tables, data analysis and profiling skills for the creation of the mapping documents, and further discussion with data modelers for the necessary table designs.

This role sits on the data sourcing team, under the data warehouse group. The team has over 80 different projects you can have your hand in. The type of work includes, gathering data from 3rd parties, such as hospitals, which is sent in all different formats. This team integrates the data from various sources to standardize it into one data model. They work with internal informatics team to use this data for predictive analytics that allows the company to manage patients. For example, if they receive information from hospitals that an individual is pre-diabetic, the company can ensure that they are in contact with the individual about setting up next appointments and taking the precautions needed to avoid further health issues. This individual must be able to understand requirements and be able to write business rules and transformation documents. This is not developer. This individual source information to hand off to other team in the data warehouse group.

Ongoing Projects:

1. Reconciliation between two database systems. Reconciling their data warehouse claim system to their claims database. They receive the claims from Highmark, which goes into their main core database. These then go into the claims database. Then you have to figure out what claims are valid. They need the claims to match in each database.

Let's say you get 1 million claims into the warehouse... when all the rules are applied... on 700,000 may apply. So you would have to write a query with all the rules to give them just the valid claims.

2. They are building a brand new system for claims adjustments- CTA. If you think of all the different lines of business that has to do with adjusting the claim. 5 different lines of business touches the claims... the claims adjustment are siloed. The goal is to put everything in one system of record.

Project:

-Last year, they implemented a project for outreach members. They have 100s of nurses for outreach members and ask them to take medicines and connect with their physicians. This prevents them from having emergency visits thus cutting costs. They built an engine to consume different data for chronic members and outreach them to nurses. If they can't outreach to nurses, they outreach via digital (text, email, call, etc.). There are different channels currently, the idea is to outreach through one channel. AHA is going to sell that product next year for their clients and need to enhance that application.
