Job description
Multiple shifts:
5AM-1:30PM (3 Needed)
6AM-2:30PM (1 Needed)
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the design of experiments; conduct the experiments independently and collect the resulting data; document findings in MS Office and communicate results to Chemists
• Prepare and evaluate coating formulations including electro-coat, primer, topcoat and clear coat using mixing equipment and various spray equipment
• Accurately run and record test results for all coatings formulations
• Handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory, collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur
• Identify and suggest improvements in methods
• Make suggestions on path forward and contributes to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow
• Inspect and perform routine maintenance on the equipment used to conduct experiments at the designated work location
• Maintain appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments at work location
• Maintain a safe working environment; contribute with suggestions to lab safety improvement; safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis
Qualifications:
• A 4 year degree in physical or life sciences OR a 2 year degree from a college or technical school with min 3 years relevant professional experience OR a high school degree with min 15 years relevant professional experience; laboratory experience in an industrial set-up in organic synthesis or formulation is considered relevant and preferred.
• Must have a passion for lab/bench work: in this role you will spend >80% of the time in the lab working on raw materials testing and coatings formulation, with a possibility to gain experience in organic synthesis
• Comfortable working with hazardous materials/chemicals
• Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines
• Basic computer skills, particularly proficient in MS Office
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Self-motivated problem solver with strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to write routine reports and correspondence
