The Consumer Lending team partners with other businesses across Wells Fargo to create and deliver transformational experiences that help customers gain access to credit. The vision for the Consumer Lending business is to leverage technology and data to make it simple for customers to easily access credit when and where they need it. Consumer Lending serves customers across the country through our distribution network of more than 5,300 retail banking branches and Home Lending offices, as well as online and digital channels.

This positions primary responsibility will be to conduct internal reviews within the QIS team, providing trending, coaching and feedback. Strong credit acumen and communication skills are a must to be successful in this role.

Responsibilities include performing in-depth pre-fund loan reviews and validating the most complex transactions to ensure program, investor and/or company polices are followed. Ensures compliance with internal company requirements and/or agency or government regulations. Analyzes risks and offsets and develops solutions for problems identified. May conduct credit, closing and compliance reviews. Consistently and successfully communicates overall process and transaction quality and provides feedback to appropriate contacts regarding identified deficiencies, which may include suspending credit decision until deficiencies are resolved. Identifies problem areas and/or trends and develops recommendations for procedural changes. May present findings in client meetings. Maintains knowledge of all closing, underwriting and compliance guidelines. Applies extensive specialized knowledge and acts as internal consultant or final authority in area of expertise. Acts as a mentor/escalation point/SME for lower level Pre-Fund Examiners, resolves issues and provide training; may act as backup for Pre-Fund Examiner 4s.

The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.
NC-Charlotte: Min: $59,600 Mid: $84,000 Max: $108,400
MN-Minneapolis: Min: $59,600 Mid: $84,000 Max: $108,400
CO-Englewood: Min: $59,600 Mid: $84,000 Max: $108,400
PA-Philadelphia: Min: $65,600 Mid: $92,400 Max: $119,200

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of underwriting experience
  • 2+ years of experience in complex underwriting, nonconforming underwriting or a combination of both



Desired Qualifications

  • Credit underwriting experience
  • 5+ years of consumer loan underwriting experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of consumer loan underwriting or credit in mortgage lending
  • 5+ years of experience with underwriting policies and procedures, including investor guidelines and regulatory updates
  • Knowledge and understanding of underwriting and use of delegated credit authority
  • Experience with underwriting policies and procedures such as risk-layering and asset evaluation
  • Non-conforming loan underwriting experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of correspondent lending: operations, processes, and fulfillment functions
  • Audit or internal controls testing experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills



Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with CORE System (Retail)
  • Experience with LPS Cloud System (Correspondent)
  • Knowledge and understanding of credit: policy, compliance, and underwriting requirements
