Job description

We are seeking someone who is energized by a fast-paced and vibrant environment, is organized and analytical, has a superior understanding of the title industry, and utilizes best-practices for Examining. The Title Examiner is responsible, among other tasks, for reviewing Underwriter provided title searches, analyzing and evaluating pertinent record documents for determination of ownership, legal descriptions, and any effect on title; producing an accurate and comprehensive title commitment (with administrative support for document preparation) in accordance with Company and Underwriter examining and policy procedures; and recognizing title defects and formulating curative requirements. Lastly, were looking for someone who is as passionate about Philadelphias neighborhoods and community as we are, and shares our culture of authenticity.

Please note this is a full-time position that could be either remote OR in-person, depending on the candidates preference. We are currently taking precautions for COVID-19.

Requirements

* Examine title orders within Company guidelines to determine the conditions of the title and insurability by considering the effect of documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, probates and other matters of record.
* Review Underwriter provided title searches, analyze and evaluate pertinent record documents for determination of ownership, legal descriptions, and any effect on title.
* Produce an accurate and comprehensive Title Commitment (with administrative support for document preparation) in accordance with Company and Underwriter examining and policy procedures.
* Explain chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to customers and managers, as needed.
* Recognize title defects and formulate curative requirements.
* Provide concise and transparent notes/instructions to team members for clearing title or other curative tasks before closing.
* Assess risks and liabilities that may jeopardize the company and Underwriter, and bring these matters to the attention of the Director of Operations, as appropriate.
* Interface with Underwriting counsel as need to resolve title problems.
* Maintain proper production levels and delivery standards on a daily basis.
* Review surveys prepared on properties, if applicable.
* Work closely with the Closing Team to meet time requirements, and assist with answering questions.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

* 5+ years of experience as a Title Examiner for PA/NJ transactions.
* State issued Title Insurance Producers License strongly preferred.
* Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
* Strong organizational, communication and customer service skills
* Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
* Ability to calmly problem solve in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment,
* Desire to be part of a collaborative team in a high production environment
* Beneficial if you have experience working in Qualia and transactions in the City of Philadelphia
