Job Description:
Data quality analysts examine complex data and turn it into information and insight to inform business decisions. They also monitor performance and quality control plans to identify any issues or ways to improve client deliverables, operating systems and database designs. This role requires collaborating with database developers to implement effective automation processes by developing test scripts for customer scenarios and acceptance criteria.
The position involves writing SQL queries within ETL process environment and MDM platform so data can be mined for quality control and accuracy.
The Data quality analyst is part of a larger ETL development team. This role suits people who enjoy working with data sets and numbers, have an aptitude for computer systems and software, and have strong diagnostic and analytical abilities [root cause analysis].
Data Quality Analyst Duties and Responsibilities
The data quality analyst's duties typically involve:
- Interpret Data. Data quality analysts interpret data and analyze the results using statistical techniques. They provide an ongoing quality assessment on work outputs showing the effects of different ETL processes, data transformations and observed trends or issues which are raised with the technology team and/or senior management.
- Influence design of Processes, Systems and Databases. This role involves working with database developers to implement data structures for more effective data collection and storage, as well as performing data analytics and other strategies to optimize the efficiency and quality of the data being collected.
- Review Data Statistics and Exception Reports. This role involves filtering and "cleaning" data by reviewing computer reports and performance indicators to correct any code problems and check the efficiency of the data collection and transformation processes in place.
- Prioritize Business Needs. Data quality analysts work with management to prioritize business and information needs and identify new processes that will improve the systems in place and define new opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Provide service to the data team, support teams and client community by ensuring the quality of our product is consistent with the organization's quality objectives.
- Verify work product traceability to project deliverables; verifying that data deliverables are traceable to the Design Specification and satisfy the documented business requirement(s) and acceptance criteria.
- Assist in the development of project quality test plans. Document system test plans, test cases, test scripts and test summary reports ensuring the delivered product meets the requirements of the documented use cases (user stories). Assist/consult with programmers in their development of unit test and integration test development.
- Develop and execute test scripts for delivered product. Develop and execute application load tests for developed data solutions.
- Establish and maintain defect tracking system that tracks reported defects.
- Protect the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and electronic measures.
- Where required, document organizational processes and maintain the organization's knowledge base.

Education and Training
- Typically, has completed a four-year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering OR has acquired Core IT skills and knowledge via practical experience.
- 3-4 years of work experience in software Quality Assurance testing required.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education; keeping up with advances in technology, software tools, and analytical methods is a must.

- Strong technical expertise. Data quality analysts work with statistical packages and programming codes, so they must be technically adept and able to work with data models and master data software.
