Job description
Position Summary:
The Senior Business Analyst will serve in a leadership role on requirements projects to ensure that business, organizational and/or system requirements are planned for, elicited, analyzed, validated, documented, reviewed, and tested. This individual can participate in and/or lead projects. In addition, this individual takes on a formal management role and may have other BAs as direct reports.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems / Business Administration or equivalent work experience; Master's degree preferred
- Six or more years of experience in information systems, with an emphasis on the require-ments life cycle, development and testing and leading testing efforts, and/or dedicated staff to complete significant systems design, testing and/or implementation
- Strong knowledge of requirements analysis techniques and Quality Assurance (test case writing/executing)
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of current best practices, methodologies, standards, and approaches to Busi-ness Analysis
Primary Success Factors:
- Participates in all the business analysis body of knowledge areas, including Enterprise Analysis; Elicitation; Requirements Analysis; Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring; Requirements Management and Communication and Solution Assessment and Validation
- Serve as a senior level business resource for complex and moderate risk projects that align with the skill set
- Perform quality assurance on the projects assigned as business analyst.
- Perform quality assurance testing functions including design and execution of detailed test plans and test cases to verify that the software meets requirements; identification of prob-lems and defects that should be corrected prior to implementation; ensuring that the sys-tem delivers the required specifications; verifying that the system responds in an accepta-ble manner within the Bank's network environment; performing regression testing to verify that all pre-existing code still works properly; utilizing testing tools as necessary for defect tracking, automated testing, and simulated load testing; following a reporting relationship with the IT Director when participating as a QA resource on Type 1 projects
- Serves as project manager/lead on small-to-large scale requirements projects, business improvement efforts and enterprise business architecture efforts.
- Creates and/or provides input to project plans as they pertain to requirements
- Leads facilitated meetings with subject matter experts and ensures output is documented
- Ensures that requirements diagrams, models and definitions are complete and consistent, and meet the needs of the project
- Ensures preparation of Requirements Specification documentation as required by the pro-ject
- Provides expertise on the tools that the Requirements Life Cycle (RLC) Process recom-mends for requirements modeling, review, documentation, and management
- Understands and use the components of the RLC Process that focus on requirements
- Ensures that test conditions and test scripts are created and validated for user acceptance testing
- Manages requirements review sessions and traceability and change request process
- Develops a sound knowledge of the affected business area and anticipate future business scenarios
- Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure safe and sound business operations
- Partners with project manager/program manager to assist with effort and cost estimation activity, project scheduling and planning and identifying risks and issues with project and suggesting mitigation alternatives
