Position Title: Sports Buddies Coordinator
Exempt Status: Full-time, Non- Exempt
Department: Programs
Location: East Liberty (some local travel required)
Reports to: Community-Based Program Director
Supervises: N/A
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week (flexible, but requires some early mornings, evenings, and weekend availability)
Position Summary: This position requires excellent case management, program support and documentation for the Sports Buddies mentoring program. This position includes event scheduling, conducting interviews and match introductions, writing thorough, objective assessments, event planning and execution, and high level customer service through match support. Must be highly organized, provide professional services, and meet quality metrics, outcomes, and goals as established by the agency. The ideal candidate will have experience running youth sporting events and demonstrate a high-level of awareness and independent judgement while supervising volunteers and children in the areas of child safety and relationship building.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Perform duties in compliance with national standards and BBBSPGH policies, procedures, and practices
Deliver consistent, effective, and excellent customer service and match support in a respectful manner
Meet child needs and ensure safety at all times
Process volunteer and child applicants from assignment to matching, facilitating orientations and volunteer trainings, as assigned
Interview volunteers and child/family to evaluate and assess for program.
Create successful relationships working to match volunteer with the child applicants in a manner that strongly considers all parties' requests and that enhance the BBBSPGH relationship
Facilitate relationship development and provide community resources and referrals to all served families expressing need, when possible
Maintain reliable, accessible documentation in a professional and timely manner
Represent BBBSPGH in a professional manner in the community and office
Plan, organize, and execute Sports Buddies events
Build and manage community contacts and relationships
Recruit new volunteers and children for Sports Buddies program
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
- Attend meetings and events, as scheduled.
- Identify issues which need to be referred to your direct supervisor.
- Assume other program responsibilities as needed.
- Provide assistance with implementation of special events, such as Bowl for Kids' Sake, Volunteer Recognition, Holiday Party, Summer Picnic, Graduation Event, Matchiversary Parties, etc.
- Work schedule with two evenings per week and a minimum of 1 required Saturday a month dedicated to Sports Buddies activity.
Job Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:
- Experience associating with or the willingness to associate with diverse communities and organizations that support BBBSPGH
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Ability to work independently, yet perform well in team environment.
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational skills and able to focus on detail.
- Must have excellent time management skills and able to multi-task and set priorities. Ability to deal effectively with changing job requirements and shifting priorities
Education or Formal Training:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, social services, education, counseling, athletics, or related fields.
- Experience with multi-cultural communities, working in urban environment, with at-risk youth (low income, youth with single and/or incarcerated parents, etc.) preferred.
- CPR/First Aid Certified
Experience:
- General knowledge of sports and activity planning.
- Assessment, intake, and strong interviewing skills.
- Experience in effective cross-cultural communications with children and adults to develop and enhance the understanding of the cultural needs of children and their families in relationship to their mentors.
- Coaching experience, preferred.
- Technical Competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Other:
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and vehicle insurance meeting state requirements. FBI, Criminal History and Child Abuse clearances will be processed.
