Primary Responsibilities

As a junior environmental scientist within the NEPA group the primary duties and responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop general subject matter experience.
  • Learn to write environmental analyses for various resources.
  • Collecting, sorting, and preparing the administrative record for environmental assessments and environmental impacts statements.
  • Apply basic GIS skills in editing figures for NEPA documents.
  • Recording and preparing minutes for project meetings.
  • Work closely with team members and learn the project file system, document organization, and support other team members in collection of related material.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, engineering, planning, or a related field is required. An advanced degress is a plus.
  • Experience assisting in preparation of Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, or other environmental planning documents.
  • This position involves reviewing and writing environmental documents, so strong writing skills are a must.
  • Applicants must be professional, self-motivated, detail oriented, organized, effective communicators, exhibit excellent time management skills, and team players with strong focus on quality and client service.
  • This position requires work within a group and individual setting and the ability to complete tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is required. Due to client contract requirements, this position may require US citizenship.
  • The ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required.
  • The position primarily entails working in the office, but sume travel (up to 20%) may be required. Applicant must be committed to HDR's employee-owner culture.
  • Preference will be given to local candidates.
