The Janssen BioTherapeutics (JBIO) Exploratory Biology and Scientific Strategy (EBSS) team is seeking a Scientific Portfolio Manager to join our team. This is a critical role that supports the JBIO portfolio with a focus on ensuring robust scientific and operational strategies for our therapeutic and platform projects, tracking key portfolio metrics, competitive analysis, emerging science and technology analysis, knowledge management activities of the group. This position provides the opportunity to leverage deep scientific knowledge to help build a differentiated portfolio of molecules and grow in the analytics and business aspects of the pharmaceutical industry

The Portfolio Manager will support the entire Janssen portfolio of molecules in the early development space to aid scientific strategy, prioritization and differentiation of portfolio molecules. The candidate will liase with project team leaders to bring them scientific intelligence around competitor molecules to enable them to make safe, effective and differentiated therapeutics. The Portfolio Manger will understand and ensure completion and availability of portfolio metrics and the critical strategic documents required to successful deliver on the JBIO portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a depth and breadth of knowledge and experience in biologics drug discovery
  • Scientific and competitive analysis to help ensure a highly differentiated, best-in-class portfolio, and helping to inform and develop target product concepts and target molecular profiles for molecules in development
  • Work closely with project leads to provide their teams with up to date, relevant information on scientific developments and competition relative to differentiation and timing.
  • Maintain portfolio metrics and ensure completion by project leads of all project strategic documents including the target product concept, integrated strategic plan with target molecule profile and the quality assessment tool.
  • Analysis of data, spanning science and industry, to produce customized reports and white papers to the department on areas of strategic interest
  • Benchmarking to ensure that the department is building and maintaining industry best practices and competitive timelines
  • Analysis of scientific literature, providing timely updates in real time on areas of interest (such as specific drug targets, platforms, etc.)
  • Managing active database subscriptions. Working with external collaborators to ensure maintenance of custom databases. Identifying state of the art competitive intelligence information databases to bring in house to develop our business.

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum of a BA/BS in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related field required. MS or PhD preferred.

Experience and Skills:

Required:
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience is required
  • Current knowledge of a broad array of science and technologies critical for drug development
  • Analysis and data management experience required
  • Excels at attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly motivated and able to manage projects and work independently


Preferred:
  • 4+years of relevant industry experience in Biologics drug discovery, including experience with different therapeutic platforms
  • Familiarity with platform technologies such as antibody therapeutics, bispecifics, CAR-Ts, ADCs, Cell and Gene Therapy
  • Understanding of molecular biology, biophysics and protein engineering
