Job description

Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:

Essential Functions:

  • Partner with the northeast and central HR team on divisional and companywide initiatives including Engagement and Retention, Policy Alignment and Benefits
  • Consult with Managers and Supervisors providing HR guidance when appropriate
  • Recommend process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or variations to established policy
  • Participate in recruitment process, including posting jobs, interviewing, making offers and onboarding/orientation of new hires
  • Serve as a key liaison with third parties and other stakeholders
  • Use project management skills in managing projects
  • Maintain and support a variety of reports to provide HR metrics
  • Utilize HR metrics to make business recommendations and decisions
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Maintain in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Develop training programs and participate in the evaluation and monitoring training programs
  • Perform benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees
  • Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing
  • Develop trainer development programs and coach others involved in training efforts, providing effective growth and development opportunities
  • Plan, organize and facilitate employee events
  • Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization


Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
  • Minimum six (6) years of Human Resources experience including Employee Relations, Training, Recruitment, and Compensation/Benefits
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM certification, preferred
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgment calls
  • Pleasant customer service orientation and professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated experience using effective interpersonal skills, listening, diplomacy, and tact to build strong professional relationships
  • Advanced MS Office skills to include Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Workday, a plus
  • May require periodic travel within the Northeast (Rhode Island, New York and Virginia)
