Grants Project Specialist
Location: Providence, RI 02908*
Duration: 6+ Months
Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

* Initially, work will begin remotely with one day per month expected in the office located in Providence, RI. A more frequent return is likely within the timeframe of this position. The Grant Project Specialist must be flexible as plans develop and be willing to work remotely and in person. This is a temporary position with an expected duration of 6 months with potential for extension. The Grant Project Specialist is expected to work 35 hours per week.
The Grant Project Specialist 5000 works to ensure compliance and accurate financial and performance reporting on federal awards, including COVID-related awards. The Grant Project Specialist supports program and financial managers across multiple state agencies.
Expected Duties and Job Functions:

  • Complete data quality review and analysis of COVID-19 project reports submitted by state agency reporters.
  • Serve as the liaison to assigned state agencies working with program and financial staff to ensure compliance and accurate reporting on COVID grants.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to state personnel who manage and/or administer federal COVID funds.
  • Assist in developing and updating written guidance and training materials for state agency personnel on federal reporting requirements and process.
  • Perform financial and technical analyses using various data sets with the goal of providing information to support decision-making.
  • Assist in the development of reports to various audiences for budgetary and planning purposes and to the general public to promote spending transparency.
  • Support implementation of a new grants management system.
  • Provide basic technical support/training to users of grant management system, including login assistance, guidance on system navigation, and introductory training for new users.
  • Support coordination among PRO, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Office of Accounts and Controls to provide consistent messaging to agencies, to efficiently track project financial data, and to provide data to support the allocation of funds.
  • To do related work as required and assist with general administrative duties for the PRO.

Requirements: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution. Must be proficient using Microsoft Office applications, including MS Excel. Excellent customer support, and oral and written communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks at a time and transition to new projects quickly. Natural tendency to take Initiative. Flexibility and attention to detail is imperative.

Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $36.00 - $37.00 per hour
