Job Responsibilities
The Financial Aid Specialist will perform entry level professional, and/or paraprofessional duties related to assisting and advising students, parents, faculty and staff within all areas of financial aid processes. Scope of work requires application of policies, procedures and federal standards pertaining to financial aid.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide exceptional service and financial aid advising through accurate and clear delivery of information related to Federal Title IV student financial aid, state aid, and other forms of private student financial aid. Assist with completion of the FAFSA.
* Responsible for handling the primary means of communication between students and the TCL Financial Aid Office.
* Responsible for production activities that support logging, scanning, and indexing paper and electronic documents including mail and faxes.
* Assists with various aspects of reconciliation of the Federal Pell Grant and Federal Loan Programs.
* Processes federal and private loan applications.
* Assist with monitoring and evaluation of student financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
* Ensures appropriate documentation is obtained and cases are presented to the Financial Aid Director, for review as needed.
* Ensures all student/parent information is protected according to general FERPA regulations, institutional policies, and with extended restrictions of Financial Aid Policies and Procedures.
* Responsible for processing R2T4 in compliance with Federal regulations.
* Performs all other duties as assigned by the FA Director and Associate VP of Enrollment Management, VP or President.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or, an associate's degree plus two (2) years relevant experience; or, a HS diploma plus four (4) years relevant experience.
Candidate must also possess the ability to read, comprehend, and comply with complex federal and state laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the administration of student financial aid. Strong basic computer software skills, as well as, exposure to more concentrated financial aid software programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff and the public. Ability to identify, develop and implement programs and activities that will benefit campus community. Ability to provide supportive counseling regarding financial aid availability and resources. Ability to supervise and evaluate personnel. Superior organizational and problem resolution skills.
