Position: Renewable Gas Equipment Lead Operator


Location: Florence, SC


We are seeking a Renewable Natural Gas Equipment Operator to lead and perform all activities required to operate and maintain a gas upgrade system in compliance with all regulatory permits safely, reliably, and efficiently. Responsibilities will include monitoring equipment performance, operational leadership, interfacing with the SCADA system, running analytical tests, and performing technical maintenance work. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in operating utility, renewable energy and oil and gas equipment. The candidate will report to the VP of Engineering of GreenGasUSA LLC.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead point-of-contact on site and assist with overseeing operations, maintenance and overall activities associated with the facility
  • Operation of the RNG upgrading plant and associated systems, rotating equipment, gas monitoring and metering, scrubbers, membranes, compressors, gas delivery systems, and compression into tube trailers
  • Under the guidance and direction of management, will assist with implementing techniques and methods of process control that will increase plant and operational efficiencies
  • Record and analyze statistical data concerning plant operations ensuring that the plant is running as specified
  • Operate the anaerobic digestion process by monitoring equipment, gauges and charts in the digester, renewable gas generation, and waste treatment processes
  • Troubleshoot failures and malfunctions to determine the root cause and maintain, operate, repair and replace equipment as necessary
  • Maintain, modify, and repair instrumentation and control equipment including recorders, flowmeter and other water quality monitoring equipment
  • Collect samples for testing and reporting and performs lab analysis for process control
  • Ensure that plant operates within required standards
  • Monitor performance of electrical systems, circuits, or equipment of the treatment plant
  • Maintain a clean and presentable plant environment
  • Other duties and project work as assigned
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting detailing operational trends, along with availability and production

Skills & Requirements

  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions. Knowledge or training in biology, environmental science, chemistry, or a closely related field desired. Knowledge of wastewater operations a plus.
  • Process plant or wastewater facility experience preferred; knowledge of plant instrumentation, analyzers, pumps, compressors, conveyors, and mechanical screws. Basic understanding of the anaerobic digestion process; anaerobic digestion experience desired
  • Basic knowledge PLC systems
  • Must be able to gather pertinent information and be able to communicate this information professionally and precisely quickly and accurately
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to assess problems and situations, recommend a path forward and evaluate alternatives to resolve the problem
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in operations of complex industrial equipment preferably in renewable energy or oil and gas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of self-motivation
  • Valid Driver's License
  • The individual must be proficient in the use of spreadsheets, computer, and simulation models.
