As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk - or Independent Risk Management - provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

Within Corporate Risk, the Independent Testing and Validation (IT&V) group is responsible for establishing and maintaining a consolidated testing and validation (T&V) program at the corporate level. Independent Testing and Validation is responsible for developing a common methodology and standards, providing governance and oversight, executing testing; and conducting horizontal reviews. Testing and validation teams are responsible for implementing the testing methodology and standards, and executing group-specific testing. The Independent Testing and Validation Team is seeking an Officer to support the testing and validation of the front line at Wells Fargo.

Responsibilities of the Officer role specific to the Independent Testing and Validation (IT&V) team include, but are not limited to the following:

• Plan and complete testing within required timeframes and in accordance with established processes and procedures
• Effectively communicate the testing or validation process, status, and results to business and risk partners
• Write and/or review reports or presentations that clearly articulate the results/conclusions of testing or validation activities
• Leads implementation of initiatives with moderate to high risk in a matrixed environment, and communicates emerging risks to management.
• Effectively communicate with IT&V Leadership and escalate issues or validation concerns as appropriate.
• Identifying and implementing efficiencies and process improvements.
• Foster strong relationships with team and collaborate across other all T&V teams effectively.
• Complete assigned activities in accordance with established processes and procedures.
• Provide credible challenge and recommendations to IT&V Leadership as needed.
• Actively participate in learning & development opportunities to ensure the use of best in class processes and procedures.
• Developing clear and concise reporting to be shared with IT&V Leadership.
• Assist in managing change to ensure an effective risk management program
• Complete all activities under limited supervision
• Mentor and coach Associates and Senior Associates



Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management



Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills
  • Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
  • Experience reviewing testing strategies and methodologies; evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products and internal controls; and identifying issues resulting from internal and/or external compliance examinations



Other Desired Qualifications

• Specialized knowledge or prior regulatory compliance testing or review experience
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in financial industry
• Strong ability to research, trend, and analyze data.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Minimum three years at Big Four/super regional public accounting firm with experience in business process, regulatory, or IT audit and/or business process, regulatory, or IT SoX advisory/consulting service.
• Experience supporting SOX/COSO, Regulatory Exams (Domestic and Int'l), Audits, or other control related assessments.
• Strong critical thinking skills with ability to credibly challenge status quo.
• Demonstrated success with influencing business units to identify, formulate and implement processes/procedures to mitigate risk.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills, especially with difficult topics when partnering with lines of business and technology. This includes the willingness and ability to question decisions, understand direction and escalate issues, where necessary.

• Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

• Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)
• Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP)
