Job description
South Carolina Federal Credit Union is currently seeking a Financial Analyst to join our team of outstanding Finance professionals in North Charleston, SC.
Duties include but are not limited to:
* Assist with the preparation of the monthly financial statements. Gather and input information from the general ledger including month-end entries and accruals. Assist in preparing Board reports for the financial package including balance sheet, income statement, ratio analysis, investment schedules, loan and deposit reports, graphs, and rate surveys.
* Assist with researching balance sheet and income statement account fluctuations and providing explanations for month-over-month and budget deviations. Develop trend summaries of operating revenues and expenses to be used in monthly forecasting and annual budgeting.
* Assist with the preparation of the quarterly regulatory call report (5300) for the NCUA.
* Serve as recording secretary for the Asset/Liability Committee of the Board of Directors. Act as liaison between departments for sharing and gathering information and coordinating meetings and activities.
* Responsible for completing the monthly update process for Finance systems such as ProfitStar, Financial Performance Suite, nCino (ALLL/CECL), and Prologue Visual Intelligence. Provide reports to appropriate individuals in a timely manner. Maintain system parameters, analyze processes, and provide recommendations to enhance processes.
* Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and tracking of the credit union's lease database. Coordinate with the Facilities Department and other respective areas to obtain updates to existing leases and information on any new lease agreements. Monthly prepare journal entries for posting lease entries according to FASB guidance (ASC 842).
* Research and provide Finance Department and other areas of the credit union with financial information. Prepares various summary reports for management. Responsible for maintaining position related information and retention of records in accordance with credit union policy and regulations governing financial institutions.
* Daily prepare general ledger entries for posting. Prepare month-end entries for posting and maintain associated spreadsheets for various general ledger accounts for posting.
* Reconcile, research, resolve outstanding items, substantiate general ledger balance, and prepare written reconcilement for assigned accounts.
* Responsible for setup and maintenance of the credit union's fixed assets. Includes proper asset classification and determination of depreciation period and method, cost center assignment, general ledger assignment for asset and expense entries, maintenance of an accurate fixed asset filing system, record retention in accordance with credit union policy, GAAP, and NCUA and government regulations, month-end and year-end processing.
* Responsible for maintaining current Project in Process information for all credit union projects involving capital expenditures. Prepare a report to be distributed to management monthly and as requested. Monitor progress of projects, maintaining records for each project. Move from in-process to permanent status as completed by preparing all journal entries for posting, making system changes to move balances, and verifying set up to ensure the accurate classification and timely start of depreciation.
* Responsible for the preparation and governmental reporting of the annual Personal Property Returns for all credit union locations, the Property, Plant and Equipment Summary for auditors, the ATM Depreciation Report, the Depreciation Run-Off Report, and the Annual Capital Expenditures Report.
Minimum qualifications include:
* Possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or a related field or equivalent work experience.
* Possess a minimum of three years in a related Finance or Accounting role.
* Possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Possess intermediate to advanced understanding of accounting principles and theory.
* Possess the ability to research, resolve, and support accounting transactions and account balances with minimal direction.
* Possess the ability to keep information confidential in appearance and in fact.
* Possess excellent communication skills where courtesy, discretion, accuracy, clarity, and confidentiality are essential, and where tact, persuasiveness and negotiation are frequently used to reach objectives and maintain goodwill.
* Possess advanced in-depth analytical, deductive reasoning and judgment skills in order to perform intensive fact-finding and investigation required solving major, complex issues/problems.
* Possess intermediate mathematical skills performing calculations involving decimals, percentages, fractions, and basic accounting principles.
* Possess ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
* Possess a strong understanding and commitment to credit union philosophy and operations.
