Specimen Processor

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for preparation of Non-Gynecological and/ or Gynecological specimens for cytological evaluation and maintaining equipment, daily records and supplies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Sets up and processes specimens, according to proper procedures.
• Stains and coverslips slides.
• Loads slides onto and removes them from the Imagers.
• Assigns slides to cytotechnologists and pathologists
• Coordinates slides with requisitions and assigns slides to cytotechnologists, pathologists or outside facilities.
• Files slides and maintains slide files.
• Retrieves needed slides from slide files.
• Processes GYN specimens as needed.
• Performs NonGyn specimen processing as directed.
• Performs required lab maintenance and cleaning.
• Maintains lab equipment and supply inventory.
• Maintains rotation of processed specimens and disposes of them appropriately.
• Exercises all laboratory safety precautions and adheres to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
• Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
• Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.

EDUCATION & LICENSURE:

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Medical lab experience preferred but not required.
