Position Details Position Title Director of Anatomy Lab Facilities/Lmu-Dcom Department DCOM BASIC SCIENCES Position Category Staff Full Time Job Description The Director of Anatomy Lab Facilities for the Harrogate and Knoxville campuses is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of all facilities that fall under the LMU - DCOM anatomy department. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Preferred Qualifications *Bachelors degree in biology or related field; *experience in an anatomy laboratory setting.

Job Duty

Job Duty 1. Maintains day to day supervisory responsibility for the following facilities: i. Hamilton Math & Sciences Building: Gross Anatomy Lab and associated areas; anatomy lab, morgue, tissue prep room and model room. ii. DCOM building: Gross Anatomy Lab. iii. DCOM at LMU Knoxville: Gross anatomy lab, prep lab and cooler. iv. Maintain inventory of plastination specimens at both DCOM Harrogate and Knox
Job Duty 2. Supervise support staff working in all anatomy labs; this includes lab managers, anatomy assistants and temporary hourly employees (Harrogate/Knoxville).
Job Duty 3. Oversee on -site embalmed and plastinated tissue.
Job Duty 4. Direct acquisition of donors from outside agencies; Assist donor procurement through the LMU - DCOM Anatomical Donation Program
Job Duty 5. Ensure proper practice of donor material utilization following procedures and protocols set forth by the donor program and anatomy department.
Job Duty 6. Serve as consultant to the LMU_DCOM Anatomical Donation Program.
Job Duty 7. Record keeping ( LMU - DCOM Harrogate and LMU_DCOM at Knoxville): a. Track donor and donor materials within the LMU - DCOM Anatomy Dept. This includes whole bodies, parts and plastinated parts. Maintain periodic scheduled inventories and reconcile inventories with the LMU Anatomical Donation Program coordinator on a scheduled monthly basis.
Job Duty b. Maintain a physical inventory of: i. Teaching materials (models, plastinates, etc.). ii. Tools, equipment, and general instrument supplies. iii. Consumables, such as toweling, wraps, PPE , bio-waste safety and handling materials (sharps containers bio-waste receptacles etc., and chemicals).
Job Duty 8. Supervise collection procedures, storage and disposal of bio-waste materials produced by the human anatomical labs through the LMU bio-waste disposal program (Medical Waste of America). This includes: i. Safe handling and storage. ii. Work with other LMU departments on protocols and procedures for proper disposal of bio-waste materials. iii. Close working relationship with Campus Facilities
Job Duty Management on: a. MWA , EPA and OSHA regulated bio-waste handling and paperwork. Includes: disposal of bio-waste materials, ensuring proper paperwork for handling and disposal is carried out. proper cadaveric tissue and fluid handling, storage, and disposal. b. Air quality management.
Job Duty 9. Lab safety and training. i. Work with faculty, staff, and students on proper safety guidelines when; working with cadaver material, handling chemicals, disposal of bio-waste and other materials generated by human cadavers. Verbal instruction in lab for students entering the lab for first time. Ensure that all SOP rules and regulations are followed. ii. Standard Operating Procedures ( SOP ):
Job Duty Update and manage SOPs for all labs. Ensure that new students and employees who enter the lab understand the rules and sign-off on SOPs. iii. Ensure rules and regulations pertaining to laboratory safety, security and professional etiquette are strictly adhered to faculty, staff, students, and visitors in all aspects of the Anatomy Department facilities. iv. Coordinate with campus environmental
Job Duty safety on rules, regulations, record keeping and proper storage of chemicals among all facilities associated with the DCOM Anatomy Department (Harrogate/Knoxville).
Job Duty 10. Lab Maintenance and Upkeep: a. Ensure all facilities are operating in a clean safe environment.
Job Duty b. Coordinate with housekeeping supervisors on the routine cleaning of all laboratories and facilities. c. Coordinate with physical plant on any issues with facilities; electrical, HVAC , lighting, plumbing and upgrades. d. Oversee safety and security checklists and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment. e. Assure the observance of quality control management
Job Duty 11. Lab Teaching Assistance: a. Assurance of ready access to faculty and students to any materials or equipment properly requested. b. Assist with special dissections related to teaching. c. Work closely with faculty on lab setup and required materials. d. Assist faculty and students in needs for research, donor materials. e. Oversee the anatomy lab managers and anatomy assistants
Job Duty (Harrogate/Knoxville) on setup and design of fresh tissue and clinical skills workshops.
