Tooling Technician

Summary:

Constructs, alters and maintains production fixture, tools and dies. Specializes in the construction, alteration and maintenance of production tools, jigs, fixtures, dies and thermoformer molds.

Work Performed:

• Repairs molds and fixtures by welding and refinishing precision surfaces using machinists hand tools including weighing scales and measuring devices,
• Constructs and maintains molds, foam fixtures and allied equipment by operating various machine tools and other highly skilled work such as laying out, fitting and assembling parts from tool design and engineering.
• Performs hand work to include normal layout practice, finishing of machined surfaces to a high degree of luster aby the use of filling, honing abrasive compounds and hand finishing of lettering and fine engraved detail
• Responsible for the observance of safety rules and regulations and for housekeeping in work area.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in operating all machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, surface and cylindrical grinders.
• Must be able to machine complicated tooling parts to precise dimensions within specified tolerances.
• Capable of troubleshooting die and thermoformer associated problems and initiating proper corrective action.
• Ability to read assembly drawings and assemble molds, dies and tools per drawing.
• Knowledge of mixing, dispensing and application of foam components and epoxy adhesives. Ability to use epoxy and other plastic materials to make and repair foam fixture patterns.
• Minimum of (4) four years of related experience, a high school/trade school diploma

Must supply hand tools and instruments as required for work performed.
