Founded in 1971, Dialysis Clinic, Inc. (DCI) remains the nation's largest non-profit dialysis provider. With a team of approximately 5,000 talented and caring employees serving across the United States, DCI provides care to nearly 15,000 patients on dialysis and 3,500 patients with chronic kidney disease. We offer a variety of services including in-center hemodialysis, home hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis (PD). Each position within DCI, from billers to administrators to nursing staff, contributes toward the goal of providing excellent patient care. Our staff has helped DCI achieve the lowest mortality and hospitalization rates among large dialysis providers for the past 13 years in a row.
The Laboratory Supervisor oversees the day to day operation of clinical laboratory departments assuring proper performance of laboratory procedures and the proper reporting of test results. The supervisor will also oversee the technical and scientific aspects of the specialty areas confirming that laboratory equipment and methods are maintained and performed in accordance with laboratory regulation guidelines.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate staffing resources to assure adequate coverage in all assigned departments.
* Perform staff training and assess ongoing competency.
* Perform employee performance improvement as needed.
* Assure all laboratory equipment and testing methods are performed according to standard operating procedures.
* Review and monitor quality control and troubleshoot noted problems when necessary.
* Assure that preventative maintenance and equipment repairs are performed timely and kept up to date at all times.
* Evaluate new methods and equipment including performing method correlations and statistical analysis.
* Monitor external proficiency testing for assigned specialties to ensure compliance.
* Handle problems and/or complaints from physicians, patients or other clients.
* Maintain an inspection ready lab at all times by ensuring that laboratory is compliant with all regulatory agencies and accreditation standards.
* Maintain and order supplies/reagents as needed to assure continuity of testing services.
* Participate in the laboratory quality assurance plan and prepare periodic reports as assigned.
* Serves as a LIS liaison for assigned laboratory specialties.
* May serve as a lead on assigned projects.
Qualifications
Required Certifications and licenses:
* Must possess a current Tennessee license as a Medical Laboratory Supervisor.
* Must be nationally certified through ASCP, AMT or equivalent.
Education and/or Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in medical technology from a four-year college or university which includes completion of an approved medical laboratory training program.
* Minimum of 5 years work experience in a Core Laboratory with particular expertise in hematology is required.
* Must be comfortable learning and using new technology
* Basic computer skills is required.
* Prior experience in a high volume reference laboratory setting is preferred
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office is preferred.
