Position Overview :

Were seeking a full time, remote Senior Accountant with a background in Payroll who thrives in a startup environment. You will be a key member of the Finance and HR teams as we build processes to support the future growth of the company. We are looking for someone who manages their time well, looks for ways to increase efficiency and speed up processes, and someone who is eager to learn and take on more responsibility. While the needs of a startup are constantly changing, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Complete day-to-day accounting activities including: customer invoicing, accounts payable, recording bank transactions, managing corporate credit cards and receipts, processing payroll, etc.
  • Prepare monthly close entries, ensuring that journal entries are properly supported for audit purposes and properly recorded in the ledger.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and other supporting schedules, as needed, in order to maintain a complete and accurate general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and provide analysis from the budget.
  • Support budget and forecasting activities.
  • Prepare reports for external auditors.
  • Prepare and file sales tax reports, business tax, and other required regulatory filings.
  • Prepare, verify and record payroll, employee benefit (medical, dental and 403b), HSA, 401k, and other expense schedules and journal entries.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state authorities and file all required payroll related reports.
  • Perform HR duties related to employee onboarding, payroll processing, benefits administration assistance, etc. as needed.
  • Act as a backup or as needed to ensure accurate, timely and compliant processing of payroll transactions including salaries, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Analyze information and prepare reports in Excel as needed or requested by management.
  • Support management with ad-hoc projects upon request.

There are three principal skill sets that we are looking for:

  • Perform tasks as part of the monthend close process and other daily accounting duties
  • Perform financial reporting and analysis
  • Support HR duties and process payroll as needed

*This is a remote position and can be located anywhere in the United States*

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 3+ years of previous experience in accounting
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes and experience managing multi-state payroll tax filings.
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in MS Excel
  • Preferred experience working for a healthcare/technology company.
  • Preferred experience working with Quickbooks Online.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • A self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, startup environment.
