Job description

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: 2 years of experience working with individuals and families.

Master level student in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or Social Work

Supervises: None

Essential Functions:

* Assess clients' needs and aids with emotional support and advocacy.
* Link clients to available resources and provides case management support.
* Conducts initial intakes and develops and maintains service plan.
* Aids with public assistance benefits, educational needs, victim's crime compensation, housing and food.
* Provides peer support groups and co-facilitates counseling with clinician.
* Provides psychoeducational groups focused on emotional support, anger management, healthy relationships, managing trauma, self-care, stress management, substance abuse, risky behaviors and other alternative forms of recovery.
* Able to connect with young adults and families at-risk.
* Provide assessment-based crisis intervention services to individuals on-site and over the phone after successful completion of BCFS Crisis Training.

Measurable Deliverables:

1. Compiles and analyzes intakes and referral information to assess client needs.

2. Offers individual and group support as appropriate.

3. Teaches peer support skills in conflict resolution, anger management, parenting, etc., as needed.

4. Develops, monitors and reviews with the individual, an action plan designed to increase strengths, address needs and reduce conflict in the home.

5. Completes all files and program documentation to include data entry, accurately and on time.

6. Helps individuals to locate community resources to meet additional needs.

7. Prepares presentations, trainings and facilitate groups that address topics related to child abuse prevention for community agencies, schools, parents and youth.

8. Participates in resource fairs in the community as assigned.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Maintains own schedule of office visits and events.

2. Identifies and maintains professional relationships with clients and community partners.

3. Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service trainings and case consultations.

4. Reports any suspected abuse or neglect to the Director and appropriate law enforcement agency within 24 hours.

5. Performs Crisis intervention techniques to promote client safety.

6. Completes all necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

7. Maintains accurate records regarding delivery of services, crisis, safety planning, etc.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

1. Must be able to commit to at least two consecutive semesters.

2. Must pass criminal and driving background check.

3. Students are expected to be enrolled in a graduate level internship/practicum course throughout the duration of their internship experience(s).

4. Student will maintain liability insurance throughout their internship/practicum experience(s).

Credentials, Skills and Abilities:

1. Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position including but not limited to:

First Aid CPR Other ________________________________________

2. Pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug screens and always maintain emotional control and professional composure.

3. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years)

4. Demonstrate the ability to:

a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.

b. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.

c. Work in a fast paced environment.

d. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.

e. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

f. Travel as needed.

g. Manage time effectively and efficiently.

5. Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
