Job description
This position will be working at our Headquarters Building in North Austin (183/Oak Knoll). This position does not offer the opportunity to work remotely at this time.
We are looking for a skilled HR Manager to join our 6-person HR team and partner with our HR Director to provide knowledge and expertise in full-cycle payroll processing and benefits administration. You will be responsible for managing the complete payroll and benefits function. Our immediate need is for this person to be hands-on in processing bi-weekly payroll utilizing ADP Workforce Now, including the collection, review, input, editing, and verification of all payroll data for approximately 250+ employees.
You will also be heavily involved during our open enrollment period. This will include acting as liaison between all benefit providers and the Credit Union, driving the full life cycle of the Open Enrollment Process, as well as processing new enrollments, benefit changes, terminations and communicating benefits to employees.
The ideal candidate will have experience providing coaching and feedback to employees and managers on a variety of employment-related matters such as performance management, corrective action, separations, and terminations. In addition, you will serve as the subject matter expert on leave programs including FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation, STD, and LTD, providing guidance to employees on how to navigate the process.
Here's what you can expect day to day...
Payroll Administration
- Assists HR team with the processing of employee payroll throughout the annual twenty-six payroll periods, auditing and ensuring payroll is accurate. Serve as the subject matter expert on all payroll-related inquiries.
- Ensure that the payroll processing instruction manual is kept up to date so that others may process and post payroll. Assists with training managers and supervisors on timekeeping system.
- Partners with HR Director to assist with managing all quarter and year-end activity, including tax reconciliation and reporting, as well as distribution of timely and accurate annual earnings statements (W-2s).
- Act as internal staff consultant and employee point of contact for benefits-related issues, benefits questions, changes and updates.
- Assist HR Director with the management of leave programs including FMLA, STD, and LTD; ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately, on time, and forwarded to the appropriate parties. Track and document all leave hours, certifying that employees receive the proper payout for any leave time.
- Handles employment related inquiries from employees and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the HR Manager.
- Assists with the reviewing and writing of Corrective Action documentation.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Complete special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions.
- Assist with developing, reviewing, and updating job descriptions for all positions in the Credit Union; work with Managers to ensure information is kept up-to-date and accurate.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; with an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

- Knowledge of principles and procedures related to compensation, benefits, and labor relations.
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in a related field required, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Minimum of 3 years working in a Human Resources department with progressive experience over time, including tangible experience with benefits administration, leaves of absence, and full cycle payroll processing serving 175+ employees preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years payroll processing experience required. Experience with ADP preferred.
- Knowledgeable regarding local, state, and federal laws and regulations as they relate to employment and hiring practices, employee relations, benefit administration, compliance, and payroll; PHR certification preferred.
- 5 years of progressive HR Generalist experience, handling elements throughout the employee lifecycle.
- 3 years full-cycle payroll processing experience with ADP Workforce Now Software.
- 3 years' experience with employee benefits administration, including annual open enrollment process.
- Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- PHR/SPHR or SHRMCP/SCP certification preferred.
- Experience working in banking or financial services industry preferred.
