Summary

The Facebook platform offers marketers limitless opportunities to reach consumers. The same properties that make the Facebook platform an ideal place for marketing, also make the platform an ideal place to conduct analytical work and marketing research to become a better marketer in the new mobile world. This role will be part of the Small Business Group Marketing Science Team focusing on supporting our smaller businesses globally by better understanding how these businesses can grow using our platforms through data and science. This person will be working in a team executing key media and measurement research projects intended to deliver strategies and insights.

The person in this role will be responsible for identifying research needs in close collaboration with stakeholders and partners, executing research projects, and delivering actionable recommendations to the business. They will be working on identifying opportunities to develop and refine different treatments and supporting the go-to-market strategy for different initiatives to derive advertiser value. They will also be responsible for building strategies and proactive initiatives executed globally in partnership with various cross functional partners based on research.

We're looking for an expert in research methods, inferential statistics and critical thinking skills to successfully influence how advertisers conduct advertising. This person will work closely with key cross functional sales, and marketing science teams to run research projects with small businesses. To succeed on this team, this person will need to develop data driven best practices, marketing science go-to-market strategies for customer segments, as well as evolve how to execute and learn for small businesses.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in media or advertising effectiveness research methods along with a natural curiosity to understand how things work. They should be passionate about Facebook, analytically minded, a great communicator, and able to partner and influence across complex organizations. This position is full-time.

Required Skills

  • Identify and execute research and analytical initiatives that create clear understanding of how Marketing Science can help small business segments grow
  • Communicate results and make actionable recommendations to stakeholders and partners
  • Work closely with sales, program leaders and other cross-functional partners to drive direct impact on small business marketing strategy
  • Develop research driven proactive programs by working with stakeholders and partners
  • Advocate for small businesses with product organizations in developing key products and measures for determining success of business outcomes
  • Lead third party research initiatives to generate understanding of advertising impact on small businesses


Minimum Qualification

  • BS/BA Degree in Economics, Statistics, Business, Quantitative Psychology, Applied Mathematics or similar field
  • 3+ years experience in a quantitative field, such as consulting, market research, media research, data science, product development or user experience research
  • Experience with applied statistics including sampling approaches, experimentation, causal inference, etc.
  • Experience in applied research with focus areas such as media consumption, consumer behavior, or advertising effectiveness
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL-like query languages
  • Experience with an analysis tool such as R, Pandas, MATLAB, SAS or SPSS
  • Experience with presenting and partnering with technical and non-technical teams


Preferred Qualification

  • Experience with survey methodology or lab-based research
  • Experience in the advertising industry or in consumer behavior
  • Understanding of current media landscape and challenges small business advertisers face
  • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a quantitative field
