SMITH PROTECTIVE SERVICES, INC. is seeking highly motivated, vigilant, and dedicated people that are Level II or III certified or have the ability to get certified through the Texas Private Security Bureau for Security Officer positions throughout the Austin metropolitan area.

COMPENSATION: Pay rates up to $18.00 per hour with a potential signing bonus of $200.00 (First payment of $100.00 issued after the first consecutive 40 hours worked and the second payment of $100.00 issued after 30-days of fulltime employment). Please read complete job description before applying.

JOB SUMMARY: To properly safeguard premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry. Obtains help by sounding alarms. Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers.

Pay is dependent on assignment and experience.

APPLICANTS MUST MEET THESE BASIC SECURITY OFFICER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Eligible to work in the United States of America.
  • Have a valid Texas driver's license or Identification card.
  • Have a current or the ability to obtain a Private Security License.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have a working telephone.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Not convicted of a felony or crime of moral turpitude.
  • Be willing to submit to a physical and a drug screen.
  • Agree to an in-depth background check including but not limited to, criminal history, work performance, and character references.

APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO MEET THESE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (DUTIES) TO BE A PRIVATE SECURITY OFFICER:

  • Patrol duties involve walking or moving by foot at a steady non-stop pace over a property or area designated for protection by a customer or client over a 8-hour period; this may involve the additional use of other means established by a client/customer (i.e. a motor vehicle, Personal Mobility Vehicle (PMV), golf cart, bicycle) for the sole purpose of readily protecting and safeguarding the client' s/customer's assets.
  • Be able to physically stand in one place for up to 2 hours without aide or support.
  • Visually peruse and inspect the perimeters of a client/customer property designated for protection. Must possess 20/20 corrective vision, which enables you to inspect the perimeters of a property designated for protection.
  • Possess a valid Class C Texas Motor Vehicle Operator's license which enables the vehicular operational duties to be performed to and from and/or on or about the premises/properties of a client/custom when applicable.
  • Have the ability to cognitively recognize routine non-threatening situations, which allow authorized personnel to enter, work within, or leave a client's or customer's premises or property without unnecessary delays.
  • Must be able to write reports in a clear and concise manner. The reports must detail the activities, events, and occurrences (whether routine or unusual) of an assigned shift. Must also be able to demonstrate a fluent command of the English language, which includes good spelling and grammar skills.
  • Demonstrate, for the purposes of protecting not only the client/customer property, but for the safety of the lives of client/customer employees, reasonable command of the senses (corrective visual/hearing impairments to an acceptable level) whereby a threat such as a safety/fire hazard could be perceived, and the aide of remedial authorities be sought upon immediate recognition/perception of said potential threat/hazard.
  • Possess adequate verbal skills to communicate, report, and describe (utilizing fluency in the English language and a demonstration of a command of sufficient skills in English) details of events and daily activities involving a shift assignment as communicated on a regular basis.
  • Operate standard equipped telephone electronic devices for the purpose of taking messages and making certain that said messages are property dispersed within a reasonable amount of time to authorized interested parties.
  • Pass, with a satisfactory score, a security officer-training program that deals with instructions related to the client or customer's requirements and company related policies.
