Job description
Responsible for conducting laboratory testing, field observation and testing services to include field sampling, when needed.
Employee shall have the following minimum duties and responsibilities:
* Contact Direct Report for priorities and deadlines in both the field and laboratory.
* Perform assignments in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
* Perform assignments in order to meet project deadlines.
* Performs routine maintenance and calibration of equipment and maintain proper documentation of maintenance and calibration.
* Use laboratory equipment in a safe manner to minimize wear and preclude damage.
* Assist in other areas of the laboratory or field when necessary as determined by Direct Report.
* Ensure safe usage and maintenance of company vehicles and test equipment.
* Update Direct Report on progress, delays, and problems on every project.
* Understand, adhere and participate in the Raba Kistner Health and Safety and (BBS) Programs and set a good safety example.
* Frequently lift and/or move 45 pounds to include, but not limited to tools, sample containers and equipment.
* Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.
* Position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Work responsibilities require out of town travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices and project locations.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Employees shall possess the following minimum qualifications:
* High school or G.E.D. certification.
* Minimum of 5 years of laboratory testing experience that includes testing of Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete, Aggregate and Soils.
* Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
* Maneuver within confines of laboratory. Access shelves, cabinets, etc. that have been constructed to preserve the integrity of the physical conditions of samples.
* Communication skills with clients, coworkers, and project managers.
* Dexterity to utilize delicate and small laboratory equipment.
* Distinguish colors and shades of colors to describe soils and analyze laboratory results.
* Sufficient math and science skills to analyze laboratory results.
* Present a professional appearance to best represent the firm.
* Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to post-accident, random, and reasonable cause testing during employment.
* Comply with all attendance requirements as noted in most current edition of the Employee Handbook.
