GC/GCMS RESEARCH TECHNICIAN

(MUST BE LOCAL TO BAYTOWN/HOUSTON AREA)

Today, Kelly Services is searching for an experienced Chemical Research Technician to join the team at a Fortune 500 Chemical Company in Baytown, TX on a long-term contract basis.

MAIN FUNCTIONS:

Support/assist the lab supervisors/chemists by performing routine and nonroutine laboratory analysis/wet chemistry on product and in-process samples, to support plant operations for the purpose of quality assurance/control.
Run GC's on Agilent GC 6890/7890/8890
GCMS
Perform calibration and maintenance of test equipment.
Prepare samples and ensure accurate data generations records, in accordance with the standard operating procedures.
Utilize analytical instruments to address quality assurance/control issues.
Prepare chemical stock solutions and reagents, as well as set preparation standards.
Position will receive direction and support. Works with moderate work direction
and is skilled and knowledgeable to the position.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
-BS/MS, Chemistry or closely related field.
-Preferable experience in quality control systems.
-Knowledge in Agilent GC 6890/7890/8890.
-Preferable experience GCMS 5973/5975, SCD, GC headspace hardware operation and maintenance, in Agilent OpenLab and Mass Hunter software applications.
-Knowledge of process instrumentation would be beneficial.
-Effective oral and written communications, including effective meeting skills.
-Ability to develop methods, troubleshoot, communicate, and implement plan.
Must be able to work with others in a team environment.
