Purpose of Job We are seeking a talented Director, Finance for our San Antonio or Charlotte facility. This person may also work remotely in a 100% Remote Work Environment.

Plans, directs and administers Financial operations and activities, typically with enterprise impact. Organizes and integrates the resources and systems necessary for effective and efficient operations.

This individual will lead our Enterprise Stress Testing Team within Treasury. The role will drive the planning and execution of our Firmwide capital stress testing process, working with colleagues across the Enterprise in Finance, Risk Management, and lines of business that includes Banking, Investments, and Insurance. The team prepares regular, periodic and ad-hoc stress tests by applying knowledge of analytics and finance to calculate performance impacts arising from stresses on capital. In this role, you will lead the development, implementation and execution of stress testing models and assumptions, oversee analysis to interpret results and ensure they are understood, and build and manage the quality assurance program related to data, operations, and results. The team regularly produces analysis to support business decisions at a variety of settings, including Committees and Board level forums. You will have the opportunity to play a leadership role in the strategic direction of the stress testing program and define how it will continue to improve.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages the Stress Testing Program to identify emerging risks that stem from business activities and the external environment.
  • Ensures risks associated with Stress Testing are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.
  • Develops Stress Testing team strategy to achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Promotes the development of effective team relationships and functions in various capacities as required to ensure the success of team efforts.
  • Frequently interacts with senior management and peers on finance and accounting matters requiring internal or cross company coordination.
  • Serves as a consultant to senior leadership in long-range planning and influences business decision making.
  • Consistently interacts with senior leadership as a trusted advisor on financial issues.
  • Makes recommendations to solve short-term decisions, as well as strategic financial business problems.
  • Assists in developing the financial strategy for supported operating companies.
  • Identifies problems and critical issues impacting financial operations and implements appropriate responses to meet business challenges. Maintains familiarity with financial oversight and controls in a highly regulated environment.
  • Leads the development, coordination, and facilitation of identifying and communicating business technology requirements.
  • Assumes leadership responsibility on select projects.
  • Builds and oversees a team of employees for assigned functional area through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field required OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • 8 years of treasury and/or finance operations experience in the financial services industry OR advanced degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics and 6 years of treasury and/or finance operations experience in the financial services industry.
  • Subject matter expert on the principles and theories of treasury or finance operations, finance, accounting and/or other related financial business fields and disciplines.
  • Knowledge and experience with functionalities of corporate financial or tax systems.
  • 3 years direct team lead or management experience required to include demonstrated ability to develop talent, manage workflow and project execution, foster open communication, and manage and improve processes.
  • Experience successfully communicating and influencing finance/treasury operations matters with leadership.
  • Ability to effectively work with internal and external partners.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience supporting a Stress Testing program at a banking institution
  • In-depth / expert knowledge and understanding of stress testing and scenario analysis methodologies and frameworks.
  • Strong, demonstrated program management skills
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as economics, data and analytics, statistics or similar
  • Experience in a quantitative financial/risk role such as modeling, credit risk analysis, forecasting, or model risk management
  • 3+ years management experience
  • Proficiency in statistical/numerical software such as SAS
  • Proficiency in numerical programming languages such as SAS, R, Python, SQL and experience querying large amounts of data
  • In-depth / expert knowledge of quantitative risk modeling, calculation of Regulatory and Economic Capital.
  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.
  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth / Expert.
  • Demonstrated experience managing risk and driving compliance

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $106,800 - $192,300*( this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location)

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

Shift premium: will be addressed on an individual-basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
