Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, 401K, PTO, Sick Time, 9 Paid HolidaysWhat you'll do at Cascade:Serve the American Dream Through Affordable Home Ownership.As the FHA DE Underwriter working in a 100% paperless environment, you are responsible for underwriting and applying conditions for residential mortgage loans using FHA underwriting guidelines. By analyzing the entire loan file, including ability to repay the mortgage, capital and collateral requirements, and overall general risk, you will approve or deny the loan file in accordance with those requirements.How you'll do it:Front-end FHA Residential Mortgage Underwriting (not loan modifications) for purchases, refinances, streamlines, and construction-to-permanent loansAnalyzing employment, credit, income, assets, purchase contracts, appraisal, title, and other documents submitted by Processing and either accept or deny documentation according to FHA requirementsReceiving, reviewing, and clearing loan conditions in accordance with company and agency guidelinesWorking Effectively with Closer/Funders, Processing, and Jr. Underwriting in different states and time zones to ensure workflow remains efficient while maintaining loan qualitySuggesting potential alternative documentation when conditions do not meet requirements or restructure as a counterofferRecognizing when AUS approval becomes invalid and loan must be manually underwrittenManually Underwrite loans in accordance with FHA's requirementsMaintaining underwriting turn times, SLAs, and quality and production standards set forth by managementEvaluating loan applications to determine eligibility, acceptability, and compliance with TRID, federal, and state lawsAdding Value to the team by maintaining a positive attitude and remaining flexible as the manager balances the daily, weekly, and monthly workload, especially during peak business daysAssisting with other duties as necessaryBest Candidate:Typically, Cascade first tries to promote from within by training Jr. Underwriters to become DE Underwriters. In scenarios where it is necessary to hire from outside the company, it is important to find the right fit for the candidate and Cascade. The best candidate for the DE Underwriter position is someone looking for a family orientated company where a work-life balance is supported from the top down. They want a secure company with a proven track record of calculated and controlled growth where over-staffing is avoided, and attrition is low. Some candidates applying at Cascade have not used their DE in a while and are looking for a foot back in the door and others want to be appreciated for their individual contributions and not be treated like a number.
