Position Overview:
  • The Underwriting Specialist position is in the Large Commercial Group, one of Executive Assurance's specialty units, which is responsible for underwriting Directors and Officers liability, Employment Practices Liability and Fiduciary Liability coverage for public and private companies with revenues greater than $500M for public accounts and greater than $1B for private.
  • Candidate must be a highly-motivated, career-oriented individual who will be a key part of the Commercial team efforts for the Texas office and larger Central region.
  • The position offers increasing levels of responsibility over time as the candidate develops experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite and price products, to include financial and exposure analysis
  • Attendance at meetings with insureds and trading partners
  • Policy contract review and rating
  • Claims review
  • Binding of new and renewal accounts according to our underwriting philosophy and strategy
  • Service brokers and customers

Required Skills:
  • 3 to 5 years of public D&O underwriting experience preferred.

Desired Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Analytical, with keen ability to think through issues.
  • Strong understanding of the risk profile of energy companies and other public & private accounts.
  • Excellent understanding of financial statements.
  • Effectively prioritize work with ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently as a member of a team working to build a profitable book of business.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with brokers in order to successfully manage our business which may require travel to producer location or insured location.

Qualifications:
  • BA or BS, ideally with a degree/major in Economics, Business, Finance, or Accounting.
