Job Description

PAE is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager for customer engagement, relationship building and opportunity identification. The successful candidate will be customer facing and have a deep and broad understanding of the customer's short- and long-term objectives as well as their company's in-house capabilities and areas where contractor support will enhance their chances for mission success. Candidates will rely on their customer knowledge and relationships to identify opportunities in this market and position PAE as a leading service provider. Candidates must have experience and knowledge of a wide array of customer priorities across multiple functional areas, including Logistics, aviation and ground vehicle maintenance and Facility Operations and Maintenance. The customer set includes United States Government Department of Defense and Civilian agencies located in both inside and outside the continental United States

Essential Job Duties:

  • Identifies, qualifies and progresses opportunities for leadership consideration.
  • Develops and maintains a close relationship with the key customers to understand their requirements and concerns in order to develop new business
  • Identifies, builds and qualifies a healthy long-term pipeline in support of PAE strategic growth objectives
  • Based on customer assessment, identifies solutions from PAE's platform that are attractive and essential to the customer and then positions PAE as the best company to meet these customer needs
  • Develop strategies for future market changes and assess the likely impact on customers to identify growth opportunities and trends in domestic and international markets
  • Identifies opportunities that customers may not have formal requirements for; creates white papers to propose PAE solutions to help the customer meet their mission requirements
  • In conjunction with PAE's operations leaders, assists in the development of the strategic growth plan for the customer area
  • Consults with customer on upcoming requirements to help shape requests for proposals (RFPs) and ensures PAE's BD/Proposal teams have full understanding of requirements, constraints, and perceived risks
  • Assists Capture Management and Proposal Development teams in identifying the most likely requirements to successfully win an opportunity to include development and articulation of the solutions required, win strategies, themes and discriminators; clearly communicate these to both corporate executives and Business Development personnel.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or subject matter relevant to customer's mission required; graduate degree preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience with USG clientele; international development experience preferred.
  • The candidate should have a developed network of relevant contacts in this customer set including DOD and/or Civil agencies
  • Deep and broad understanding of customer's operations, priorities, short/long term goals, strengths, and weaknesses typically derived from having worked within this customer's organization in a variety of roles and departments
  • A broad-based understanding and knowledge of the business environment around the customer's operations support services, understanding of the business cycles of this capability set
  • Effective oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to establish and maintain productive customer and industry participant networks are essential
  • Team Oriented, ability to work with multiple functions to achieve business goals
  • Efficiency in the use of Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) is required
  • Experience using SalesForce or a similar CRM system is preferred
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize multiple on-going projects
  • Eligibility to obtain a Secret security
