Job description
THE UNIVERSITY
Texas Christian University is a private Christian university in Fort Worth, Texas. TCU's mission is to educate
individuals to think and act as ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community. This ideal
is the continuation of a quest that began in 1869, when brothers Addison and Randolph Clark dreamed of
creating a college where men and women could acquire a classical education and develop character. In
1873, with just 13 students, they opened the doors of AddRan Male and Female College, one of the first
co-ed institutions west of the Mississippi. The Clarks were both Fort Worth-based minister-teachers and
they forged an affiliation with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to "adopt" their school, giving it a
new name and ensuring its future. The 1873 charter stated that AddRan Christian University would fulfill
its mission to "promote literary and scientific education."
TCU relocated to Ft Worth in 1910. Today, the Horned Frog family is connected through over 90,000 living
alumni, and nearly 11,000 current students. With strong Texas roots, TCU is a global school serving
students across the U.S. and abroad. 57% of the 2023 class is from outside Texas, 1 in 20 students are
from outside the United States, and 1 in 4 students are of color. TCU is part of the Big 12 Athletic
Conference.
