Job Summary: The Personal Trainer is responsible for providing safe and effective personal training for clients. All TCU Campus Recreation Personal Trainers are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week. Until these 10 scheduled hours are met, the personal trainer's availability is to remain open to accepting new clients. Availability should include a minimum window of 15 hours (including those hours currently filled with clients). New trainers must successfully complete the TCU Campus Recreation personal training orientation and will receive a ninety-day evaluation. Personal Trainers will receive a free membership to TCU Campus Recreation, and have access to faculty/staff rates for family members. Duties & Essential Job Functions: 1. Provides safe and effective personal training for clients; operates under the standards set within their certification for prescribing exercise for individuals. This includes modifying exercises for special needs clients.

2. Maintains confidential client information.

3. Adheres to ACSM standards and guidelines.

4. Markets services. There are no sales quotas to reach each month, but there is also no guarantee that enough clients will sign up on their own to fill your schedule. Campus Recreation will advertise and promote the personal training program, but participants are free to choose their personal trainer.

5. Attends meetings and special events.

6. Keeps up to date on all training information within the department (meetings, training specials, announcements).

7. Adheres to established availability.

8. Reports any problems, training-related questions, or uncertainties to the attention of the Assistant Director of Fitness immediately.

9. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience: • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Preferred Education & Experience: • None Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training: • Required certification in one or more of the following:

o American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)

o National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)

o American Council on Exercise (ACE)

o NASM

* Current CPR Certification
* Another certification may be accepted at the discretion of the Assistant Director. Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training: • None Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Knowledge of proper personal training techniques.
* Skill in organization including but not limited to regular/daily email correspondence, data collection/record keeping of client assessment and exercise programs, adherence to calendar dates and session times.
* Ability to work with a wide range of clientele including students, faculty, staff, and community members with varying goals. This includes goal setting and programming, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
* Ability to commit one year of personal training at TCU.
* Ability to be personable and helpful, expected to have a positive attitude toward fitness and sincere desire to educate clients. Trainers must also maintain personal health and fitness.
* Ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times and to respect all Campus Recreation facilities.
* Ability to market services through floor hours, tabling events, social media, etc.
* Ability to collaborate with supervisors, colleagues, and clients/participants.
* Ability to train individual clients as well as small group sessions.
* Ability to perform, interpret, and explain fitness assessments. Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations): • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
* Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
* Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
* Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
* Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs. Work Environment: • Work is indoors/outdoors and not sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
* There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
