RISE CONSTRUCTION is a growing commercial general contractor located in the Houston Heights. Our project sizes are 50k to 10M. Our projects are 50% commercial and 30% residential 20% insurance claims work. Safety, Quality, Integrity, and Relationships are our core values which we live by.This position works with the Chief Estimator to assure that bids, proposals and cost estimates are completed in a timely and orderly manner. This position is available for a Project manager in a full service concrete company. Rise Construction performs concrete cutting, drilling, demo, and pour back work throughout the greater Houston area. An ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills, problem solving skills and experience in cost accounting to ensure the profitability of projects.Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Estimating: Take off plansGenerate proposals for customersCommunicate with customers regarding proposals and potential workRequest pricing from suppliersPrepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Maintains quality service by following organization processes.Participation in AGC membershipEnsure successful close out and completion of all managed projectsPrepare proposals for construction costs.Complete understanding of blueprint, specifications and scope of workObtaining bids from qualified subcontractorsEvaluates offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements.Maintains cost keys and price masters by updating information.Project Management: Coordinate with field supervisors to assign field employees to jobs dailyCoordinate submittals, material orders, and job site deliveries with PurchasingCoordinate with Field employees to maintain job progressProvide change order proposals as neededHandle project paperwork (contracts, change orders, project-specific forms, etc.)Manage job costs by tracking spendingDetermine billable costs each month for each projectAddress issues with jobs and employees as they ariseMeet periodically with Field Supervisor(s) to keep track of job progress and address problemsSubcontractor relationships and evaluation of qualifications.Additional Responsibilities: Assist in the pricing and bidding of construction projects, reviewing milestone documents to price alternative opportunitiesParticipate in the internal estimate review process and assist with final assembly of estimate presentation for ownerParticipate in hard bid/estimating and GMP budgeting by evaluating bids and collecting/organizing information for future usePrepare contractual exhibits for scope of work for subcontracts, and direct information/documents to subcontractorsBuild and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors and clients, and represent McCarthy at industry eventsPerform quantity take-offs and and aid in change order pricingCommunicate with architects and consultants to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements* Implement all applicable safety and EEO/Affirmative Action programs on-siteAdditional Job Details (We trust that as an Estimator you will): Create and manage material takeoffs for all floorplansEnter takeoffs and bids into Purchasing system (NewStar Enterprise)Assist with pricing and execution of Custom OptionsAssist with budgeting new floorplans and new community start-upsAssist the VP of Purchasing with special projectsWrite estimating standards to articulate the use of material takeoffsYou are willing to perform other duties as assignedWhat you will need: (competencies, behaviors & attributes)Independent WorkerEthics & IntegrityTeamworkAnalyticalDetail OrientedOrganizationAbout You: Experience in Estimating with estimating software in the homebuilding industry, either with a homebuilder or a Trade/Supplier is preferredStrong math skills neededProficiency in Excel is REQUIREDAbility to read floor plans is REQUIREDLocal candidates with familiarity to the geographical area are preferred4 year degree is preferred, major in Construction Management or Finance is preferredThe ability to prioritize and multitask in a hectic environment is requiredA positive attitude is a MUST.Must-Have Skills: Exceptional Plan & Project SpecificationsReading SkillsAttention to DetailGood Communication SkillsAnalyzing InformationDeveloping BudgetsSubcontractor RelationshipsReportingTeamworkDocumentationJob Types: Full-time, ContractPay: $50,000.00 - $110,000.00 per yearBenefits:Paid Time OffSchedule:Monday to FridaySupplemental Pay:Commission payExperience:General Contractor: 3 years (Required)Construction: 5 years (Required)Comercial Construction: 3 years (Required)SmartBid: 3 years (Preferred)Construction Estimating: 3 years (Required)Application Question:How do you price a project and what are your sources?Contract Length:VariesFull Time Opportunity:YesWork Location:One locationThis Job Is Ideal for Someone Who Is:Dependable -- more reliable than spontaneousPeople-oriented -- enjoys interacting with people and working on group projectsAdaptable/flexible -- enjoys doing work that requires frequent shifts in directionDetail-oriented -- would rather focus on the details of work than the bigger pictureAchievement-oriented -- enjoys taking on challenges, even if they might failAutonomous/Independent -- enjoys working with little directionInnovative -- prefers working in unconventional ways or on tasks that require creativityHigh stress tolerance -- thrives in a high-pressure environmentCompany's website:'s Facebook page: Remotely:No
