Retina and Vitreous of Texas, PLLC is looking for an experienced Insurance Verification and Pre-authorization representative to join our team on a full time basis. RVT is a Retina Specialty practice with 5 physicians and 10 office locations in Southeast Texas. This position will work from our main office near the Texas Medical Center in Houston, TX.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Verifying patient insurance coverage prior to patient appointments and ensuring the necessary procedures are covered by a patients' insurance plan.
• Entering and maintaining accurate insurance information in the patient record.
• Communicating with patients to inform them regarding their coverage, what procedures are and are not covered, and any out of pocket expenses associated with their visit.
• Request and process referrals required by HMO plans. Communicate with patients prior to their appointment about the referral required for their plan.
• Obtain prior authorization for all office and surgical procedures.
• Assist patients with enrolling in copay assistance programs for high-cost medications.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have experience working with insurance companies, and have extensive knowledge of different types of coverage and policies. Must have excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to work on many projects at once. Must be detail-oriented and organized. Must be able to focus and work quickly to adhere to deadlines. Must be able to work well with others. Familiarity with Ophthalmology CPT codes and ICD-10 codes strongly preferred.
