Aegis Aerospace is currently looking for an Engineering Technologist to join our team in Houston, TX.

Overview: *The purpose of this position is to provide technical backing for the maintenance and inspection of critical equipment as well as logistical expertise for the Laboratory Support Services (LSS) and Bioanalytical Core Facilities (BCF) at the NASA-Johnson Space Center. This role is a function of the Human Health and Performance Contract to support spaceflight operations projects as well as research studies conducted to advance future exploration missions. This position will work closely with the LSS engineers and laboratory stakeholders to ensure that laboratory and operational equipment is maintained in the safest manner, in accordance to established quality management system standards. This position will work closely with the LSS and BCF Leads to meet the contractual requirements of these teams. Other responsibilities include: receiving and distribution of dry ice, transportation of equipment for calibration, weekly eyewash and safety shower inspections, monitoring refrigerator and freezer performance and responding to off-nominal alerts after hours as needed, and coordinate division service contract procurement.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with applicable safety regulations and Company safety policies and rules as well as reporting safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
- Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures.
- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company.
- Responsible for completing all assigned training.
- Ability to work within a dynamic team environment.
- Excellent skills in both written and verbal communication.
- Support the maintenance and repair of operational and laboratory equipment, which includes the following: ultra low freezers, refrigerators, incubators, water filtration systems, small laboratory equipment, etc.
- Coordinate with onsite measurements, standards, and calibration laboratory to ensure calibration equipment remains in compliance with NASA Standards
- Coordinate with offsite vendors for proper receipt and return of instrumentation for calibration
- Provide support for off nominal temperature excursions
- Provide support for the Bioanalytical Core Laboratory Facilities to include property management, chemical inventory, vendor coordination, and general health and safety compliance
- Provide procurement support and coordination for division sponsored service contracts
- Provide back-up support for documentation custodian and QMS documentation
- Provide back-up support for PPE distribution
- Receive and distribute dry ice and liquid nitrogen.
- Perform weekly eyewash and safety shower inspections as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications: REQUIRED:
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent AND 5 years' experience in general laboratory maintenance and repair OR BS in Engineering Technology or related field
- Proven ability to perform technical work to high standards.
- Ability to meet quality, safety, performance, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Ability to capture, communicate, and implement the needs and requirements of customers for their projects.
- Ability to attain and maintain respect and confidence of the customer and contract personnel. A close, cooperative customer interface is essential.
- Must have basic knowledge of electrical systems.
- Professional judgment in establishing objectives, milestones and priorities.
- Must be able to work independently, be highly motivated, and able to work with multiple disciplines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with project managers, project leads, customers, and with contract colleagues is essential.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must be open-minded to new ideas and new ways of doing business, willing to embrace new opportunities, and the flexibility to adapt to a changing environment.
- Reliable and dependable work habits and the dedication to get the job done.
- Standing/walking; climbing/stooping/kneeling; lifting/pulling/pushing: 50lbs or greater is required.
