The primary purpose of the job is to build long-term and profitable customer relationships with focus on asset quality with acceptable revenue & profitability. Manages all aspects of the customer relationship including loans, deposits, and ancillary bank products. Has the ability to collaborate with all internal partners with emphasis on Credit Risk Management and Treasury Management. Commercial RMs are expected to meet with prospective businesses with $20MM to $500MM in revenue annually (no actual revenue restrictions) to identify banking needs and match them up to the Bank's products and services; loans typically range from $3MM to $30MM.
Strategic Planning - In collaboration with management, each Senior RM will develop a strategic business plan (updated at least annually) with the objective to build a customer base that is in concert with the bank's strategic plan. Key components include targeted industries, key Centers of Influence, and short / medium / long term prospects to develop. Expect to have 10-20 identified leads targeted at all times working to turn into prospects.
Business Generation / Calling -Calls on current or potential customers; investigates customer needs for commercial products and services; develops sales proposals; introduces customers to other departments for cross-sell opportunities; negotiates with customers on pricing, etc. with senior RM / Team Lead guidance if needed; develops fee income from credit and deposit services; finalizes and closes business with Team Lead / Management assistance.
Credit / Structuring - Collaborates with internal partners such as Credit Risk Management, Team Leader, Portfolio Management, and Treasury Management to customize solutions for current and potential customers. Must understand and appropriately apply bank policy / guidelines to all transactions and seek guidance when appropriate. Bring in outside legal counsel as appropriate to assist in structuring and completing diligence & documentation.
Sr. Relationship Manager & Team Leader Additional Responsibilities:
The Team Leader role is designed for Top Producing RMs who excel in generating new business and have the interest and ability to further develop talent and assist the bank in its strategies. The position will allow Team Leaders to gain additional internal exposure to Executive Management and be positioned for internal growth, opportunities, and appreciation. In addition to the responsibilities above, a Senior RM & Team Leader is also expected to execute the following:
- Utilize their network of existing contacts and COI's to drive business opportunities;
- Develop industry specializations and join associations;
- Stay abreast of industry events & issues to help proactively manage risk;
- Manage the day to day functions of their team with support from Market President and Commercial Banking Director;
- Assist in eliminating internal road-blocks / issues by developing internal contacts;
- Assist in developing & recruiting talent;
- Proactively drive bank initiatives and contribute to strategic & tactical discussions;
- Delegate tasks to team to more effectively manage time;
- Hold individual & team meetings as often as needed to run the team.
Profile Overview
The ideal candidate will be an experienced commercial banker with 15+ years of banking & lending experience. The candidate will be proven to be successful in developing new business opportunities and understanding bank risk and credit profiles. The candidate must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to be highly collaborative with all levels of the organization to meet the needs of clients. In additional to traditional salary & benefits, the candidate will be eligible for the RM Incentive program, which is heavily weighted toward revenue generation. Successful Senior Commercial RM's are expected to have annual revenue growth of $500k-$1MM, develop $50-$75MM of Loan Business; 10%-20% in compensating deposits; and TMgmt Fee income of $50k+. Seeking a mature loan portfolio of $100MM-$250MM producing >$5MM of Annual Revenue over 3-5 years.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BBA Degree in Accounting, Finance, Accounting and Finance, or Finance with Real Estate; or a BA or BS Degree in Economics
Experience Required
- 15+ years of related experience
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
- Detail oriented, organized, analytical and problem solving abilities
- Self-motivated and collaborative
