Job Description

The Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting is responsible for all aspects of the financial and Securities and Exchange Commission reporting, and will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies, SEC requirements and US GAAP. This position will also oversee technical accounting research related to new and proposed accounting standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the coordination and preparation of SEC reporting processes, including timely and accurate completion of the 10K/Q, 8-K, proxy statement, and XBRL compliance, and other financial and governmental statutory reporting as required.
  • Select, design, and implement new SEC reporting and filing tools.
  • Prepare financial statements, footnote disclosures, and management discussion and analysis (MD&A) in support of the Company's SEC reporting requirements, including tie out binders.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial presentations for senior leadership and audit committee
  • Work closely with Investor Relations to help create quarterly earnings releases
  • Responsible for the global consolidation process, including the preparation of the balance sheet, income, cash flow and equity statements.
  • Assist in month/quarter/year-end close process, specifically in reviewing and assisting with complex accounting calculations and entries and audit sensitive areas such as management estimates for reserves, deferred tax assets and liabilities, stock option / equity accounting, financial statement consolidations, purchase accounting, inter-company reconciliations, and transfer pricing entries.
  • Responsible for completion and/or review of certain balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding and analysis of significant transactions to assess their impact for SEC disclosure purposes and monitor proposed rule changes and implement as necessary. Document findings and conclusions in technical accounting memos.
  • Maintain a completed GAAP Disclosure and SEC checklist for all issued financial reports.
  • Support in gathering all financial data required to make adequate SEC Footnote Disclosures and ensure that all data is accurate and complete.
  • Assist in maintaining Financial Statement Close Process documentation for SOX compliance, as well as maintaining SOX documentation for other significant processes. Assist in designing controls to meet SOX requirements, as necessary.
  • Coordinate Quarterly reviews and Annual audits.
  • Remain adaptable to take on any accounting or audit related projects as they present themselves.


 Job Requirements:

  • 10 - 15 years of experience in SEC financial reporting and corporate accounting for a public company required
  • Certified Public Accountant required
  • Public accounting experience preferred (Big 4).
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC accounting and reporting requirements
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with experience in working towards tight deadlines
