About the Business Analyst position

The Business Analyst position is responsible for the review and amendment of severance tax assessments. The position combines elements of audit methodologies and cost accounting. This job entails analyzing the client's general ledger, supporting details and production records to ensure proper reporting. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task, apply analytical skills with a high level of accuracy, and achieve company goals. Excellent interpersonal skills are also required to ensure a high level of client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with clients to gather financial and production information
  • Test financial records according to a predetermined set of procedures
  • Make on-site visits when needed to collect support documentation
  • Communicate assessment review progress in a timely and organized manner
  • Analyze assessment review results and compile amended tax filings
  • Reconcile support documentation for accuracy and coding
  • Compile workpapers for amended assessments & claim support
  • Manage assessment reviews in a timely manner
  • Identify opportunities for improving efficiencies and processes

Required qualifications

  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly and adhere to procedures
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, including the capability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Strong, effective written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated
  • College degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance or Business Management

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong skills working with large datasets in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment

Experience is preferred but willing to train candidates who meet other requirements.

Salary depends on Education/Certifications/Experience and Technical Expertise.

Some domestic travel required
