Part-time, Night Shift Clinical Technician 1 in the Medical Oncology Unit at Inova Alexandria Hospital
Job Summary
Assists in the delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Reports to Director. Communicates and collaborates with care team members implement the plan of care to meet individualized and developmental patient care outcomes. Partners with Registered Nurse to create a professional development plan to provide employee with the necessary skills to deliver up-to date patient care. Utilizes information to continuously improve patient care and practice to enhance outcomes
Job Responsibilities
- Provides basic activities of daily living nursing care (eg. bathing, feeding) and measurement of vital signs and intake/output.
- Demonstrates competency in all required clinical skills and technologies in accordance with IHS policies and procedures.
- Completes assigned patient duties within the time frame established.
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development in providing care for the patient population assigned.
- Completes necessary documentation accurately each shift. Reinforces discharge teaching and home care skills.
- Communicates patient progress toward desired outcomes to the Registered Nurse.
- Communicates changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
- Identifies own learning needs/goals based on timely self-evaluation.
- Makes progress/meets goals set from the previous year.
- Attends educational and training opportunities.
- Maintains own Employee Continuing Education Record and completes all annual competency reviews.
- Describes the unit's quality improvement activities, trends, and goals.
- Participates actively in the quality improvement initiatives.
- Reports variances in practice in accordance with IHS policy and procedures.
Schedule: Two 12 hour shifts per week
Training: Ideal candidate must be able to attend a 6 week training course
Job Requirements
- Experience: Healthcare experience preferred.
- Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
- Certification: BLS within 90 days of hire (from the American Heart Association).
- Training: Candidate must be able to attend a 6 week training orientation upon hire.
