Job description

IT Solutions company in Ashburn, VA seeks part-time or full-time, flex Business Development professional to focus on health-related government agencies in the DC area.


Job Description: Identify, qualify, develop and close key business opportunities with government customers, through vigorous research, prospecting, networking, client referrals, and direct sales efforts. Being able to build and grow relationships and speak to our capabilities is key in this position.


Responsibilities:

  • Introduce the company and create new relationships with potential clients. Present company capabilities clearly and effectively, highlighting benefits to prospects, including government agencies and commercial clients (not government contractors).
  • Define and execute business development plans
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients and contacts
  • Manage the entire sales process to include scheduling direct sales appointments, conducting initial meetings, writing proposals and value propositions, responding to RFIs and RFQs, and follow-up on leads until converted to closed new contracts/customers
  • Coordinate senior management and technical support involvement for all meetings
  • Consult on increasing awareness to client - participation in conferences, tradeshows and exhibitions, advertising, online presence, etc.
  • Provide input to senior management, product marketing and marketing support for collateral needed for BD efforts
  • Develop and report monthly sales forecasts to support the overall company business plan and profit objectives
  • Participate in all aspects of the Business Development life cycle from capture to proposal development.


Qualifications:

  • Ability to sell complex consultative offering in the government or commercial space
  • Business Development and/or project experience working with government health related agencies especially HHS and commercial healthcare companies is strongly desired
  • Existing network of high level decision makers a must with the ability to seek out prospects beyond existing network
  • Solid understanding of the government acquisition process and guidelines a plus
  • Proven track record of sales success
  • Basic technical understanding of systems/engineering and a desire to learn more
  • Excellent communication, writing, consultative selling and negotiation skills
  • Ability to proactively develop relationships and show persistence and strong work ethic
  • Willingness to work in a team sales culture
  • Knowledge of SBIR Contracts a plus
  • B.S. or B.A. desired
