Title: Shelter Services Coordinator

Supervisor: Director of Programs

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Classification: Exempt

Description: The Shelter Services Coordinator will provide direct services to clients, assure program compliance using data collection and reporting to agency administration and grant funders, and liaison with community partners to ensure highest quality of service delivery.

Position Responsibilities (Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to those listed below):

  • 1.Provide general program support and assistance as requested by the Director of Programs and Executive Director.
  • 2.Manage intake, needs assessments, risk assessments, safety planning, and access to crisis resources for all incoming residents of the shelter.
  • 3.Provide primary case management to shelter residents.
  • 4.Schedule and facilitate weekly case management meetings with shelter clients.
  • 5.Coordinate services provided to shelter residents through collaboration with other agency and non-agency case managers and advocates.
  • 6.Provide crisis intervention and advocacy through crisis calls, walk-ins, or accompaniments to assist with the immediate needs of victims of domestic and sexual violence.
  • 7.Supervise Community & Client Support Staff.
  • 8.Manage and maintain the food pantry for shelter and community clients.
  • 9.Monitor the timely collection and maintenance of data.
  • 10.Maintain performance measures as stated in the grant obligations and work plans for the Client Services Coordinator and prepare required grant reports.
  • 11.Record all work with volunteers and clients on standard agency tools for documentation and participate in all required staff meetings and training.
  • 12.Facilitate and manage delivery of donations/supplies for residents/families.
  • 13.Provide education and training on domestic violence dynamics and issues to the general community.
  • 14.Liaison with various community committees and groups to stay informed about current service trends.
  • 15.Serve as on-call for the agency 24-hour hotline and participate as on-call staff for hospital accompaniment on a rotating basis or as required by the Director of Programs or Executive Director.
  • 16.Stay current in understanding of personnel policies and review individual job performance through on-going supervision meetings.
  • 17.Participate in all required staff meetings, trainings, and community-based meetings.
  • 18.Provide evening and weekend participation in various capacities including emergency response, on-call duties, trainings, and public awareness events.
  • 19.Maintain client confidentiality policy. Maintain high standards of ethical and confidential practices related to the client, financial, and personnel records within the offices of Hanover Safe Place.

Performance Review: The Shelter Services Coordinator will receive a 6-month and annual review by the Director of Programs during the first year of employment. Following the first year of employment, the Shelter Services Coordinator will be evaluated annually. Each review process will include a self-evaluation process. The first 90 days of employment shall be considered a probationary period.

Qualifications: College degree in human services or combination of training and related work experience required. Experience in case management is necessary. Basic understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and its impact on the community is necessary. Candidate must be familiar and comfortable with computers and various software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be able to work well with others, interact with various types of people, and have the ability to respond to victims of domestic violence in a non-judgmental and empathetic manner.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
