Thomas Nelson Community College is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.

The Institutional Advancement Division includes Government relations, Office of Development and Communications, Marketing, and Special Events. The Office of Development coordinates alumni outreach and fundraising efforts on behalf of the College and the College Educational Foundation, Inc .

The Annual Giving and Alumni Relations Coordinator oversees efforts to diversify the college's funding base through private fundraising from alumni and community partners. The coordinator also manages a portfolio of alumni and community prospects and is responsible for identification, cultivation, and solicitation of such prospects. This position is responsible for planning and directing the annual giving program by soliciting unrestricted gifts from alumni, friends, faculty and staff, and other constituents to increase participation and support. This position must raise the annual unrestricted goal to retain the coordinator position.

This is a full-time restricted classified position. Continuation of employment is based on funding availability.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

* Extensive experience in fundraising, marketing, and/or proposal development and promotion.
* Experience in developing fundraising or marketing materials through direct mail, social media, and other forms of solicitation and communication.
* Experience with fundraising or marketing software.

Knowledge:

* Knowledge of fundraising practices, including the ability to effectively articulate the vision and priorities of Thomas Nelson Community College.

Skills:

* Skill in preparing written reports and proposals.

Abilities:

* Solid writing, editing and presentation ability.
* Demonstrated ability to make oral and written presentations; to organize, analyze and innovate; and to communicate effectively while establishing cooperative working relationships with diverse constituencies.
* Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
* Demonstrated ability to use relevant software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Raiser's Edge (NXT) Demonstrated success in raising significant funds and working with varied affinity group.

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's in Business, Marketing or Public Relations (or any equivalent combination of training and/or experience).
* Experience in Higher Education Development.
