Job description
**Kelly Engineering,** a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, is currently seeking several **Sr. Process Technology Engineer** for a **direct hire position** at a premier **_Food and Beverage Manufacturing client in Harrisonburg, Virginia._**
As an integral member of the stocks and broths process engineering team, this role leads and supports various projects ranging from plant process improvements, driving technical/technological innovation and efficiency to execution of capital projects while keeping people safety, food safety and sustainability as top of mind priorities. This position requires strong knowledge in process engineering, lean manufacturing, project management and sanitary design for food manufacturing. Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork capabilities are required due to the interdependencies with other functions like operations, maintenance, and quality. This role will lead these projects from concept and initial fact finding partnering with functional stakeholders through implementation and final handoff. As part of the North America Engineering team, the incumbent will be a key technical contributor to project teams responsible for executing projects for the organization.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ The investigation and resolution of operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks and lead teams through application of continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing and six sigma to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
+ Foster a culture of process innovation and collaboration with key partners in Research and Development, Finance and Operations
+ Identification of best-in-class processing solutions that aligns fully with corporate and regulatory standards for sanitary design, ergonomics, employee safety and food safety requirements.
+ Cultivate a positive and innovative work environment.
+ Be a key stakeholder in the design, development and creation of scope for engineering projects or the engineering work of the department to achieve maximum efficiency.
+ Initiate the conceptual design and develop the project justification for capital projects.
+ Support the bid process, budgeting and submission process for capital and operational projects.
+ Act as the technical receiver for new projects and ensure they perform to expectations.
+ Own and update the repository of engineering documentation, including flow sheets, risk analyses, permits and compliance documentation as required.
+ Communicate clearly, both written and verbally, with contractors, plant personnel, peers and management.
+ While this role has no Direct Reports, incumbent will oversee the project resource base including internal and external engineering partners.
+ Must be comfortable working in a global context as part of an interdisciplinary team in a heavily matrixed environment
**Qualifications**
+ BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or similar engineering discipline from an accredited institution is required.
+ 5 + years' experience in Project Management with responsibility for capital projects and continuous improvement savings preferred.
+ Basic knowledge of advanced operational improvement methodologies in Lean and Six Sigma.
+ Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to food processing.
