Job description

The Corporate and Foundation Relations Specialist is a cross-functional role that is responsible for researching funding opportunities and potential partnerships, preparing funding briefs, writing proposals and concept papers, assisting with compilation grant and sponsorship applications, and conducting funder outreach as needed. The Corporate and Foundation Relations Specialist will work collaboratively across the Development and Communications team to maximize the agency's effectiveness and build its capacity.

In accordance with President Biden's COVID-19 Action Plan, and as part of our continued efforts to maintain a safe workplace for employees and clients, NVFS will require all employees to be fully vaccinated with an approved COVID-19 vaccination or show proof of negative COVID-19 test results weekly. Donor Relations

  • Support the Development team strategy to drive corporate and foundation fundraising efforts.

  • Lead planning and strategy for donor visits and other targeted contact with donors and prospects.

  • Sustain successful partnerships with funding sources by engaging in conversations and appropriate follow up with current and future funders.

  • Work closely with Development team to implement appropriate recognition opportunities for foundation and corporate supporters.

  • Partner with the Events and Drives and Community and Volunteer Engagement teams to deepen opportunities and partnerships with donors and community partners.

  • Maintain up to date records in Raiser's Edge to ensure all prospecting and cultivation activities are appropriately tracked.


Research

  • Research new funding opportunities via community, corporate, and foundation entities.

  • Understand NVFS funding priorities and proactively identify foundation and corporate support to meet these needs.

  • Research trends in fundraising within the corporate sector, including cause marketing and shared value partnerships, and recommend how NVFS could successfully implement partnerships of this nature.

  • Collaborate with members of Development team to source success stories from program locations and share resources.


Grants

  • Provide administrative support to ensure accurate and timely submission of grant and sponsorship applications, which may include copying, collating, electronic compilation and uploading of applications by submission deadline.

  • Maintain accurate records in database, including grant/prospect tracking and follow-up actions.


Other Activities

  • Proactively seek opportunities to drive visibility for NVFS and our partners.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of NVFS' stewardship and recognition events, including donor recognition events and the annual CARE Awards.

  • Participate in regular supervision with supervisor by providing regular updates.

  • Other duties and special projects, as requested.


Qualification Requirements: An individual may obtain skills through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform essential job duties.

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Studies or a related field preferred.

  • At least two (2) years of related fundraising or communications experience required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including staff at all levels within the Agency and community partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and provide timely results.

  • Proven ability to research, analyze and systematically compile information from a variety of sources.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple programs and departments within the Agency to successfully garner information and input.

  • Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools including laptops/computers, email, phones, and internet required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with Raiser's Edge a plus but not required.

  • Oral and written fluency in English required. Additional language skills always welcome.
