Job description
Atlas Executive Consulting, LLC (Atlas), has an exciting opportunity to support the technical delivery on one of our projects within the Federal Government in the Norfolk, VA area. Responsibilities Include:
- Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency and use of accepted accounting procedures; with a focus on final processes, internal controls, control testing, policies, and procedures
- Conducting individual internal audit projects, as part of a master internal audit plan
- Examine financial statements to be sure that they are accurate and comply with laws and regulations;
- Assess financial operations and make best-practices recommendations to management
- Implement standardized business processes across organizational units
- Develop and implement corrective actions to transform the client's business environment while improving the timeliness and quality of financial information
- Provide oversight and leadership of tasks and deliverables, ensuring the timely and successful completion thereof in accordance with the project management plan
The nature of this position requires the candidate to exhibit exceptional organizational skills, notable attention to detail, outstanding verbal, written, listening and communication skills. The ability to self-motivate and take initiative is a must.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS or BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related risk management discipline
- Working knowledge of data analytical tools and analytical applications (MS Excel and Access) to analyze, interpret, and organize a variety of data and information
- Understanding of internal control concepts and experience in applying them in various business processes, areas, and functions
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or equivalent professional designation including but not limited to CISA, CISM, ISACE, CDFM, or CGFM
- An MBA or other advanced degree
- Sarbanes-Oxley Act, risk assessments, etc.; SOX testing experience a plus
- Understanding of internal auditing standards, COSO, and risk assessment practices
- Compliance and Operational auditing experience
